these quotes have me fired up, from the Tennessean...
One of the main goals for the Tennessee coaching staff entering Saturday was to get the ball to Gerald Jones more often.
Jones was all over the field and making big gains. The sophomore led all receivers with seven catches for 55 yards, caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Nick Stephens, returned a blocked punt 25 yards for a touchdown, handled a direct snap on a fake punt, and had the ball in his hands on a reverse
Jones said. "They put you in so many positions to make plays, it's incredible."
UT offensive coordinator Dave Clawson said. "We approached this scrimmage a little differently. We didn't want to look at plays. We wanted to try to get certain guys the ball in positions and he was one of the guys we wanted to do that with."
Freshman running back Tauren Poole continued to be a bright spot for the offense and finished with 17 carries for 45 yards. A bulk of his yardage came against the first-team defense.
Crompton appeared more savvy and confident leading the new offensive scheme under offensive coordinator Dave Clawson. Crompton was 17-of-22 for 146 yards.
"Arian is obviously a weapon in a lot of ways and we're limiting his reps," Fulmer said. "It was good to see Lennon make a couple of plays. I thought Tauren Poole had his best day as a running back at Tennessee. I think he's going to be really good."
