these quotes have me fired up, from the Tennessean...

One of the main goals for the Tennessee coaching staff entering Saturday was to get the ball to Gerald Jones more often.

Jones was all over the field and making big gains. The sophomore led all receivers with seven catches for 55 yards, caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Nick Stephens, returned a blocked punt 25 yards for a touchdown, handled a direct snap on a fake punt, and had the ball in his hands on a reverse

Jones said. "They put you in so many positions to make plays, it's incredible."

UT offensive coordinator Dave Clawson said. "We approached this scrimmage a little differently. We didn't want to look at plays. We wanted to try to get certain guys the ball in positions and he was one of the guys we wanted to do that with."

Freshman running back Tauren Poole continued to be a bright spot for the offense and finished with 17 carries for 45 yards. A bulk of his yardage came against the first-team defense.

Crompton appeared more savvy and confident leading the new offensive scheme under offensive coordinator Dave Clawson. Crompton was 17-of-22 for 146 yards.

"Arian is obviously a weapon in a lot of ways and we're limiting his reps," Fulmer said. "It was good to see Lennon make a couple of plays. I thought Tauren Poole had his best day as a running back at Tennessee. I think he's going to be really good."

Jones had a great day.

Poole really impressed me because he just keep plugging. He has that Travis Henry style running where the defensive players aren't too happy with having to tackle him. Rico really talked him up.

it would be nice for opposing defenses to walk off the field saying that about us, insted of vice versa.....

by the 4th quarter you could see guys tiptoe up to tackle cheese. they really, really didnt want to see him head their way.

Tauren is amazingly similiar to that.

Rico said "Nobody really looks forward to tackling him. You should see him in the weight room. You can tell the guy has dedicated himself to the game. He doesn't look like a freshman."

This may not fall under "playmaker" to some, but watching Cooper catch a pass in the flat and drag DBs 5 yards makes me absolutely giddy.

I've been excited about Cooper for a while.

Tauren played my old high school last year and he pretty much demolished them.

I love hearing that Poole is making an impact already...

If he continues to produce like this...and then people like Abrams-Ward, Douglas, G. Williams...and maybe a few I'm forgetting here...also step up over the next 2-4 years then maybe this "awful" recruiting class won't turn out to be so bad after all

I really wish we had a better idea on our WR's...I wonder if Creer could actually pass ahead of montario by the time UCLA game comes around? I think Creer could be a great at UT

I've seen Tauren play all his high school ball. He's a phenominal running back during the whole game, but he seems to shine in the 4th quarter. When the defense is tiring, he's still plugging away. I've seen many a ballgame won in the 4th quarter just by disheartening the defense, knowing that they have to try to tackle such a hard runner. He also played some safety for us whenever we needed him, and throughout all that, he still managed to carry the ball with such intensity. He's something else and I'm glad he's doing good. I didn't expect anything any different.

Wr's should be the least of anyone's worries this year. Taylor, Jones, Briscoe, Moore, Paige, Hancock, Rogers. And I think this year we see that we have had deep threats all along but Ainge never wanted to force a ball deep. Crompton is not afraid to chunk it downfield.

Watch the replay of UT vs. Florida in 2001...

I could see Taureen being a bigger version of Stephens if given the opportunity...

Maybe he's one of Henry's long lost kids :p
