Get Behind JG

A lot of fault lays at the coaches feet....Still, there are hundreds of QB's that work hard and do the very best they can but they're just not the ones.....
Then its terrible when a back up comes along with natural ability and are just better...Some SEC teams has had better backups than JG is as a starter.....and thats nothing against the kid....you just judge the player by the skills you see him display on the field of play...
The coaches supposedly judge by what they see on the practice field because they SUPPOSEDLY see them in action......
We fans only can judge them by their play we see on the field............it's actually an age old tradition and most of the time is correct

Unfortunately not all good people can be successful. Good or bad, check down passing stats don’t win championships. You have to play well to be a leader or you’re just some idiot people dispise.

Second ranked SEC QB preseason. Beat a couple ranked SEC teams. Completed 60% plus vs SEC teams with the lowest int rate.

I'm not saying "he's a good kid so he should be a good QB".

I'm saying, "He's the best we got - clearly. Let's support him."

This is just a guess, but it looks to me as though JG needs to sit down and think about how it was as a younger guy when playing QB for a team was fun. Seems like he is so serious, worrying incessantly about mechanics, Manning passing academy, off season gurus, etc, etc, that he has lost what it's like to have fun while playing. His desire to be the best seems to have sucked all of the enjoyment from just playing. He needs to loosen up a bit and let it fly--he has plenty of natural athletic ability.

So... based on what you saw on the field today, would you play Shrout? Mauer?

Good words, DonDiego.

No he is not our QB. He will get ate alive next week and this board will hate him again.

He has as much physical talent as their current guys, he would have been each of those schools most highly rated HS QBs they ever committed. I don't understand why you think he would not start for them.[/QUOTE
Sometimes those kids just never work out....sometime they just never come up to that level even though they were the best in their high school....faster game and have to throw it in tight spots to be able to be successful....still, to this day JG can't hardly throw a pass that leads his man down the sideline.............his first pass today would have been and interception and fans would have been even more irate..........for some reason JG doesn't throw the ball before his intended receiver makes his cut......for some reason the play caller wont hardly call a pass across the middle of the field....
his best pass has been that seam pass.....
Why is it in every game practically we hear the announcers say he is late or doesn't see the field....
Those guys don't hate JG either.....they just tell what they see.....They try to brag on him only to succumb to his same old habits..............so I'm not the only one who see's it.....

Only got to see the first quarter, so no way for me to tell. I'm hoping to catch a replay, but from what I've read, they still need some development.

You guys always change the narrative. The debate was whether he would play for any other SEC schools. The he sucks view from an armchair fan is not a very good argument.

Most people support him cause he's our qb. That doesn't mean we can't get frustrated when we're losing at home to a bad sun belt team. Look at this forum, 20 threads on how hreat he is, he's our best, etc because we beat chatanooga. I'll support him next Saturday, but it's gonna be ugly.

Zero chance he would take the job from sny other sec qb, zero.

The SEC wins that he does have were mainly because the rest of the team raised their level of play that day, it has to be as the JG NegaVols have pointed out numerous times that he just threw the ball up in the air vs AU and Ky wasn't really that good. Maybe it would help if the whole team were to play better more often.

How could I judge Brian's play.....they let him run the ball lol............let the kid sling it.....I can tell you he willed himself a TD....coaches or not....This kid could put the team on his shoulders and carry them...his play can pick the team up to the next level....
In all these games I have not seen JG do that.....
Yeah I would have sit JG and started playing BM at that point...JG doesn't have that chemistry....he's just not a pick me up.....

Another simple minded view. There are 6 or 7 programs where he would have been their highest rated QB recruit ever. Had he went to several SEC schools as a Freshman he would most definitely be the starting QB for them and its ridiculous to think he would not.

He got his release right today. Yeah, it was against Chattanooga High School, but he threw better than he did the last two weeks against crap teams.
I wouldn't call BYU a crap team they did beat #24 ranked USC. Regardless what you think of USC that double over time loss to BYU is actually helping us the only loss that truly looks bad is the first one

I've been as frustrated as anyone on this board about JG the past few years.

But this kid needs our support.

Erik Ainge has been talking about how there is no better QB on this team - and I think we saw that for ourselves today.

He's our QB.
And our merciless criticism of him can't be helping him.
You heard the comments from the announcers today that Trey Smith had to tell JG to stop being so critical of himself.

Sure, criticism comes with the position.
Gotta put your big boy pants on if you want to play big time college football.
But for me, I'd love for JG to be able to say that VolNation was behind him and never gave up on him.

EVERYONE who has a glimpse behind the scenes that I've I heard speak to this say the kid works his ass off.

Proud to be a Vol.
Maybe I slept through the game and didn't notice Maurer being relegated to handing the ball off to 4th and 5th string running backs but how did you come to the conclusion that JG is the best and that "we all saw that"? What I saw is Maurer being used to hand the ball off or run with mostly backup rotation players and no real opportunity to throw the ball with first team players.

Damn near impossible to get a true evaluation of a player when the coaching staff limits that player to running plays.
