Gerrymandering in Virginia

You're a Trump stooge. There's no convincing you.
You have nothing once again. Google McGoogle. You younguns are the fatal combination of ignorant and arrogant.
Now is when you say, "I know are but what am I?" or "Oh yeah, make me." Welcome to the first grade.

You can absolutely disagree and enough did disagree to get the abomination called the 17th amendment passed in 1912. We've paid dearly for that stupidity since.
Politicians electing other politicians? What could go wrong?

And with gerrymandering, no thanks.

About the only elections left that are valid are statewide and county elections. Everything else has been manipulated by politicians trying to maintain power.

With your highlighted statement you must agree that the 17th needs to be repealed.

yeah, its an easy distraction to get what they want out of Trump.
It sounds like we've cut them off from Venezuelan and Iranian oil. We've signed a Military pact with Indonesia, giving US military presence (dominance?) in the Straight of Malacca where they get the majority of the rest of their oil. Nvidia is putting geolocation software into AI processors that have previously been smuggled into China, which is a step toward kill switches--putting China behind the 8-ball on the AI race. (I suspect that it's no accident that NVidia's CEO got off of AF1 behind Trump, along with other tech leaders).

Trump walked into China with a lot of leverage, whether his detractors want to recognize it or not.

AI Overview

Yes, on April 13, 2026, the United States and Indonesia announced a Major Defense Cooperation Partnership (MDCP). This partnership aims to strengthen military modernization and training while increasing U.S. surveillance and logistical capabilities, particularly by securing enhanced access to Indonesian airspace near the strategic Strait of Malacca. AI Overview

Yes, China relies heavily on the Strait of Malacca for its energy imports, with approximately 80% of its imported crude oil passing through this narrow waterway to reach its refineries. This heavy reliance is often referred to as the "Malacca dilemma," a major strategic vulnerability due to risks from piracy, accidents, or potential naval blockades in the region.

They probably would be today. Go listen to JFK. He is a Republican by today's standards.
Southern democrats were only democrats for the longest time simply because Abraham Lincoln and W.T. Sherman were Republicans. I had kin like that.
Reagan first and now Trump have transformed the Republican party from the party of Ike and the aristocrats to the party of common sense and the working man. Barack Obomber fundamentally (he wasn't lying) transformed the democrat party from JFK patriots and champions of the working class to the party of the insane and radical blue haired cat ladies.
Hubert Humphrey is a Republican by today's standard

It seems to mean the exact opposite to me.
Why in the world would anyone want a non-representative gerrymandered state legislature electing their senator for them. Absolutely horrible idea.

I do find it amusing that you believe an elected politician knows better what the common citizen needs than does the common citizen.......and after I recently said I admired your consistency.

Not a chance. I’d bet good money that Luther & Bearded are Team Swampy here and want to go the other way - make the senate proportional to population.
Compromise?
I've seen loads of posters in the PF claim they prefer gridlock over compromise; that compromise brings poor results.

Occasionally, that is correct.

No. He would have never supported a self serving clown like Trump. Today's Republican party is the party of Trump
The Ds and the Rs are the same. The political theater in DC confuses folks on both sides. They want us citizens to be divided so they can maintain power. I get sucked into the facade sometimes. But once your eyes are opened to the game it all makes sense.

So you greatly dislike trump?

Senators don’t represent the common citizen. How hard is that for you people to understand?

None. I'm claiming a past compromise may have been wrongheaded.
Ah, wasn’t picking up on your allusion.

Yea, eff those little states. It’s only natural that the larger and more powerful exert their dominance over the smaller and weaker. Wouldn’t you agree?

yawn

They represent the state....yada...yada...yada

Who better reflects and understands the "state's interest" the citizens or gerrymandered elected officials?

Again, this may be your most inconsistent position of all time.
