I think the founding fathers would change a lot after seeing what America has become 250 years later. I'm sure they never thought a political party would believes that men could becime women and that kids can get sex change surgeries. I'm sure they would have never expected the amount of corrupt spending from the federal government and the complete disregard of our constitution from third World immigrants. So I think they would have made a few changes if they knew 250 years later

I just have problems with New Hampshire, Rhode island,Vermont, South and North Dakota having a total of 12 senators but with a smaller combined population than California.

You should review the compromise between the little colonies and the big colonies. The union could not form until the smaller colonies were assured representation in government. Hence, the senate. This really needs to be taught again in schools.

I will get roasted but here goes. I kinda agree with you. Lincoln did a lot of things which he deserves criticism. His main aim as was the North in general was to stop the South from seceding because of purely economic reasons.
If you want to understand it, look at the first state to attempt secession. Not So

When the economic implications were realized they abandon the effort. New England was dependent on Southern raw materials and would not survive a level playing field of competing with Europe for their goods.

The South on the other hand was basically being taken advantage of by their obligation to sell to Northern industry a below market value that they would get if the had fai
r competition from Europe. The North made as fortune and an economy of cheap Southern cotton they used in their factories and they also sold it to the Europeans.
If the South would have been successful in their secession, the Northern economy would have been devastated.
That was the main reason for that war.

I don't have to google. The main impetus for his support of foreign aid was to fight the spread of communism. Do you think the present day American left would be for fighting communism? No freaking way.
I will give you that he was very much like a modern day democrat on voting rights and civil rights in that he was reluctant to support either one in the early 60s. His "conversion" was motivated more by political headwinds and calculations than personal convictions. Just like the modern democrats who have no core values just pure policial driven motives and the desire for power.

If Memphis was a Republican stronghold, the Rs would have whistled right on by, no matter the racial breakdown. It is politics, plain and simple.

If we want a true color blind society; one idea might be to remove „race“ as a field stored in any government database. Then there could be no arguments about racial discrimination; because there would be no data on which to calculate it.
I mean, here in VN, unless someone discloses it, I have no way of knowing what race anyone is unless I assume it from a profile pic which is never of the actual person. If the internet can be racially anonymous; why couldn’t our government‘s decisions?
