Gerrymandering in Virginia

didn't Trump demand it because of what NY was doing? Or was it CA? I remember him being pissed at some other state's gerrymandering so he demanded Texas follow suit.

don't worry it didn't actually start with NY or CA, there was someone else before them, and so forth.
No, CA’s recent gerrymander was done in response to the Texas move.

So NY did not try to mid decade redistrict in 2022? It wasn't the first shot fired in the recent rounds? They didn't in January try to redistrict a Republican district only to be shot down by the Court?
New York redistricted with the census as ever state does, and it's irrelevant, because Trump told you and everyone elsewhy he asked Abbott to redistrict, and no where did he mention New York.

The overwhelming sentiment is a what-about-ism used to justify ill-intentioned map drawing? No way 😁

Well, now that we have established that it works both ways.........who is going to step up and stop it?

My money is on no one.

The overwhelming sentiment I hear expressed is, "Rs aren't doing anything the Ds didn't do for years."

I don't know that the goose/gander scenario is in the nation's long term interests, but when you find a political party that is willing to act in ways they believe to be in the nation's best interest when they know it will cost them their power, please let me know. There have been very few individual instances of that in our nation's history - few enough that the instances are noteworthy, rather than commonplace - but I don't know that an entire party has ever done it.
Isn't that the catch-22? The side that would be ethical enough to deserve power would never have it.

The root of the problem is not gerrymandering. The root is there are too few districts and too few reps for constituents. At the establishment of the constitution, there was one rep for about 30,000 citizens. To follow that design, we need about 12,000 congressional reps. There are 435 currently.

Nope, haven’t you been paying attention to the genius minds in here? The root of the problem is racism, it’s always racism! Try and keep up.

And WTF with designs on bigger government?

It's the only expansion of government that I favor and is necessary. The Founders forgotten more about good government than we know. Need to adhere to their concept as much as possible.

Great idea, McDad. What this country really needs is another 11,565 do-nothing Congressional representatives taking bribes and squandering taxpayer money.

🐂 💩. So all the other black Republicans didn't get elected. This country elected freaking Barack Obomber for crying out loud. What about Tim Scott in SC? All the people who say there will be no black representation in SC if not for Clyburn, what about Tim Scott? What they are really saying is that there will be no lefty representation in SC and Tim Scott is not black. Plain and simple. It was never about race, it was about commie ideology and killing America.

So,if I disagree with you that means I'm a commie?

Your heart is in the right place, I’ll give you that. Otherwise … eh, I’m gonna have to give that expansion notion a hard pass, there are too many foxes in the hen house as it is. Now if the present state of government showed any decency and ability to actually govern instead of pocket line, I’d say you had a point.

It is a great idea. You need to consider the impact.
I initially rejected it too. But the reasons were superficial.

Understandable. If you're open minded and reasonable, over time you'll see the immense benefit.

I have considered the impact. I reject it outright. We need FAR LESS government, not more (and particularly not more Congressmen).

wow..we all going to be Reps and Scotus Justices at same time…Jurisdiction and Districting will be The Great State of Me.

They were dealing with a tiny population in comparison. We all know how big a fan of huge, corrupt government the founding fathers were.
Poor leap on your part. They could have established the congressional representation at any ratio with a newly birthed country, yes?
