Gerrymandering in Virginia

Because that is what is happening. The local Republican establishment is begging for Taylor to run. They've seen Bergman get no traction in the past against Cohen and even underperformed Rs in the suburban Memphis districts.

They've seen what happens when an Republican AA runs in rural districts in GA, KY, and VA. The R voters dont show up. That's not me being racist. That is calling out what has already happened in 3 other states.

And you calling someone racist is extremely ironic...
🐂 💩. So all the other black Republicans didn't get elected. This country elected freaking Barack Obomber for crying out loud. What about Tim Scott in SC? All the people who say there will be no black representation in SC if not for Clyburn, what about Tim Scott? What they are really saying is that there will be no lefty representation in SC and Tim Scott is not black. Plain and simple. It was never about race, it was about commie ideology and killing America.

Daniel Cameron lost in a bright state. He would be the governor of KY if the bright red counties showed up like they had in every other statewide election for the past 20 yrs in KY.

Herschel Walker underperformed every R in every rural district. Same thing. He is Senator today if he wasnt the worst performing R in a generation in rural red counties.

Sears underperformed the incumbent VA R governor by 15+ points in rural counties. She was funded at 10% of the prior gov. She probably doesnt win but the lack of rural Ra showing up to the polls absolutely cost the Rs the downballot AG spot.

SC is a bright red state. The Ds havent had a legitimate statewide challenger in 20+ yrs in SC. Tim Scott is the exception, not the rule...

Race played a part, but Cameron was a legitimately terrible candidate. Plus, he was running against an incumbent with an approval rating of over 60%. Not only that, but voters who always vote republican in federal elections, have no issue voting for a Democrat at the state level. That’s why democrats have dominated the governorship, and other statewide offices, in Ky for the past century.

Well, this is a bit disingenuous since this whole recent Gerrymandering arms race was kicked off by the president demanding that Texas redraw their maps. Yes, both sides have done this intermittently, but the Rs seem to be breaking more precedence and using it as an organized strategy lately (see Ohio). Also, the Republican states doing this are doing it while ignoring the will of their constituents, because they know it’s unethical and unpopular. At least Virginia put it to the people to decide, and then it was still shot down. Don’t pretend all things are equal and exactly the same.
didn't Trump demand it because of what NY was doing? Or was it CA? I remember him being pissed at some other state's gerrymandering so he demanded Texas follow suit.

don't worry it didn't actually start with NY or CA, there was someone else before them, and so forth.

When was the last time a conservative Republican has been elected in New York, California, Illinois, or Minnesota? The South is generally conservative, get over it. Get back JoJo.

why should a conservative in all those states look the same? Do you really think all states should be the same?

New York started it in 2022. They got shot down, but they really opened Pandora's box.

IL and CA have both elected R governors this generation....

No, but the principles should be universal. Details can be debated but a person's core values should be solid. I have no problem with the blue states, they pretty much represent the commies that live there. I do have a problem when they try to intimidate the red states into yielding to their crazy ideas. It should be the free market of ideas, that is the best way. The lefties don't see it that way, if you disagree you need eliminated. Libs have weak beliefs that don't stand up to scrutiny and they can not allow it.

Don't disagree with you but you had roughly 100K voters who stayed at home for a highly competitive race (primarily bright red counties) that voted in 2019. Beshear didnt win because he improved his totals, he won because the other guy's traditional base stayed home.

I remember back to 2022 when people in GA would say they didnt vote for Herschel Walker because he was a terrible candidate but they had no issue voting for MTG during her batshit crazy days. I never could reconcile that....

For the record I think MTG was the right kind of crazy for her base. Walker sounded like a punch drunk boxer whenever he was speaking. I think that had a lot to do with it.

trust me Walker made it easy. Walker was even more dumb than MTG, just as crazy, and almost a pathological liar. just making up stuff for absolutely no reason. IIRC he claimed he was a CIA spy, and was a doctor or lawyer or something. There was also some open beef with his son.

watching a Herschel vs Abrams debate would make a Biden vs Trump debate look honest, and sound minded.

MTG was established at that point and being incumbent is always worth a few points. her scandals were well established without much remaining shock factor at that point, a TON came out on Walker.

It was Warnock vs Walker, but yeah. Neither should be in DC tbh.

Even in bright, bright red northeast Georgia (heck, the district north of Athens), Walker underperformed the guy running for the house by several % points. It's why he's not Senator now...

I know who it was, just saying that debate would have been horrendous.
