Gerald Jones

Sorry guys Gerald had to be at the gym at 1.. He'll be back on here another time to answer some more questions.. I can answer the last 2 for him.. Basketball is his first love but he understands that football is his future.. And after basketball we'll continue improving his route running, we'll do a lot of ball drills.. He'll live in the weight room and continue to get stronger and faster.. We'll do a lot of cone drills to work on his lateral movement and change of direction and i'll do some drills with him on getting off of people at the line..
Sounds a lot like Meach... basketball first love and all.

Thanks for getting Gerald on here. Good luck to him and the basketball team today!

How much more can change of direction improve? From what I saw he is already quite the ankle breaker!

There is always room for improvement... To be honest with you he wasnt as crisp on his cuts this year as he was his Junior year..

hey everybody this gerald jones the future for the tennessee vols!! how are yall doing?

I remember the last WR to come to UT and call himself "the Future"... That worked out well. Funny how nearly EVERY UT fan hates KW for his ego and what he did to our football team, yet NOONE commented on this.

i don't think he was using as a nickname or bragging about himself as washington did. besides, he technically is the future for the team since he will be on it in the future

As Washington did??? KW actually did something before letting the words "the future" come out of his mouth... He still had 3 years of eligibility left, so TECHNICALLY, he could say it too, and with MUCH more justification... Once again, alot of people hate him for it...

I look forward to having a player of Gerald's talent contribute, but if he sincerely means to refer to himself as "The Future of Tennessee Football", like he did, I wish he'd have chosen someone else's team to tear apart... I've had enough of that to last me awhile. We have enough issues, the ego-filled player hasnt done so well for us, see Riggs, Hannon, KW and so on.

Yes. He hasn't stepped foot on this campus, you know nothing about him, yet he's going to tear the locker room apart. Weren't you the one who was scared about talking to him on here?

Not scared of anything... I only stated my concern for whether it violated any rules... I havent spoken a word to him or addressed him directly.

I know nothing about him except that he just, as a first statement, refered to himself as "The Future of Tennessee Football", and as a Tennessee fan who lived thru the KW era and saw the effect that attitude had on our team, I know I want no part of any player who doesnt think the program is bigger than him.

im saying that gerald is using "the future of tennessee of football" literally, not as a nickname. ya feeling me?

Easy guys ... This is a 17 year old kid. Het him play have some fun.. No need to raise him up to Reggie Bush status or bring him down to the "future Titan" KW status!!

Don't tell me you are one of those fans that blames Kelley Washington for the disgrace that was the 2002 season.

Yes because guys that will be playing here for four years are literally the future of the program.

You have to define things for some people who lack common sense.

Kelley Washington was a 20 year old that was talked up in ESPN the magazine which gave him that nickname "The future".

Once again, Washington was "the future" at the time, if you use the same definition you guys are now. Im just saying, people use different standards when it fits their liking.

Absolutely not... I believe he caused chemistry problems that contributed to it, like getting himself benched by saying its the coaches job to get him the ball, but he wasnt "the cause"... It's widespread knowledge he made the locker room a bad place to be, that affects everyone...

Washington wasn't benched, he was injured. Not having a replacement for Travis Stephens and injuries were the main reasons we lost so many games. Our offensive line and defensive lines were some of the worst I've ever seen UT field. Clausen was sacked about 800 times, so he was banged up. Kevin Burnett and Kevin Simon were both lost for the season.

Actually he plainly stated that he thought he was "The Future of the WR position." It had nothing to do with the literal meaning of the university being able to count on him as a player that would help the team in the future. It had EVERYTHING to do with his ego. It is far too soon to make such insane accusations that Gerald is in the same boat. It is in fact, an insult.

Your absolutely correct, that entire season should be pinned on Washington.. And you comparing Gerald's "first statement" to Kelley Washington makes even more sense.:clapping:
