Gerald Jones

Washington wasn't benched, he was injured. Not having a replacement for Travis Stephens and injuries were the main reasons we lost so many games. Our offensive line and defensive lines were some of the worst I've ever seen UT field. Clausen was sacked about 800 times, so he was banged up. Kevin Burnett and Kevin Simon were both lost for the season.

Thats some good revisionist history. Clausen only missed a couple games that year and finished the season. And it wasnt a lack of rb that killed us that year (though it sure didnt help). It was having no receiver after Kelley. We never recovered from losing Stallworth and Eric Parker. And when Washington got hurt, Witten seeing double coverage, Lenord Scott dropping everying...it was awful. We eventually moved Tinsley (a rb) to wr and then the next year we had to move Banks (qb) and Mark Jones (a safety) to wr.

When you move a rb, safety, and qb to wr...you've in AWFUL shape for pass catchers.

Can you tell me again why Stallworth left early?

That's not revisionist history at all. We couldn't run the ball to save our lives. Also, while Clausen only missed two games, he played a great deal of games with a dislocated shoulder. As for Tinsley moving to WR, I'd say that had just as much to do with him not being able to cut it at RB as it did our lack of depth.

GoVOls817 you might be one of the most negative people I have ever seen.. Gerald isnt a bad kid who is going to tear a locker room apart.. Please dont start judging him by that one comment.. He is a 17 year old kid who happens to be part of the Future for Your Vols.. He was just having fun.. Thats how he is..

I mean I could start spouting off that he is this or that or somthin.. I dont know the guy, just like he doesnt know Gerald... So before he starts jumping to conclusions he needs to educate himself a little more... Gerald has never been a ME ME ME guy... He has been a guy who does whatever it takes for his team to succeed, that is why they are defending state champs in basketball and that is why we won a state championship this year in football...

i don't think he's going to have any problems letting his actions on the field speak for themselves.

Not scared of anything... I only stated my concern for whether it violated any rules... I havent spoken a word to him or addressed him directly.

I know nothing about him except that he just, as a first statement, refered to himself as "The Future of Tennessee Football", and as a Tennessee fan who lived thru the KW era and saw the effect that attitude had on our team, I know I want no part of any player who doesnt think the program is bigger than him.

How does him saying hes the future of tennessee football mean he thinks hes bigger than the program. He's a senior in high school and he's just trying to get a little excitement goin on around here.

GoVols817 u just needa relax...

This is so insulting. The guy takes time out of his busy schedule to come on here and answer our questions, and he gets called the next KW. It just amazes me how classless some people are. You need to remember the whole "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all" thing.

I for one would like to thank Gerald for getting on here to talk with us, and hope he can come back again. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do in orange!

Gerald Jones welcome to the world of some Tennessee fans, unless you win 4 heismans and 4 NC's these types will talk about you like this on sports radio for the next four years! And these people get to vote :disappointed:

excellent post  :good!:

Well that guy is banned for a week so we don't have to worry about him for now.

Well done Mods..

That guys comments were ridiculous...I hate to think that he's one of Gerald's first impressions of the Volunteer fanbase. :shakehead:

The only point he made is the fact he clearly doesn't understand the personality of a 17 year old kid(a guy he's never met before).. Do yourself a favor, never take anything he has to say in a serious manner..

wasnt saying he had a point, i was talking about the other guy. I personally think Govol or whatever his name is. Is a complete:furious3:

I say Gerald Jones is going to be one of the most electrifying players to play on "The Hill." He reminds many people of a younger version of a guy that plays for the New Orleans Saints. I believe his last name is Bush.

come on guys cokers like bush, jones is like bush. You canot even compare these players to reggie bush. 1 hasnt even played 1 game of college football(which dont get me wrong i think he is awesome) and one has split time in the backfield for a year. Lets wait to see them play 1 full season of football then start comparing them!
