Georgia Tech with a message to Tennessee....

We're losing about 70 percent of our offensive production this year to graduation and the NFL, but that's not something to be concerned about right? We have proven Dobbs and Kamara replacements just waiting on the bench right?

Defense, on the other hand well, you might be correct there, I don't know how it gets any worse unless we keep Willie Martinez.

Ohh Noo's

CPJ also had a great time celebrating the Orange Bowl victory, but hey... Beating Kentucky is a HUGE accomplishment for a team that went 3-0 against your joke of a division. Kinda funny that Tennessee hasnt had a player drafted since 2014, but man has Butch built something special their OR WHAT?? Brick by Brick loss by loss. Go voLs.

Quit being such an azz

Young man, I watched the SEC special regarding the late LSU coach that was lost in the plane crash in the early 80's. The program said Lou Holts invented it or at least was instramental in developing it. Do you know if that is correct?

I think it was Darrel Royal, Texas Longhorns...

Not as many as you apparently think. If this is such an "epidemic", then no one should ever schedule Navy, Army, Air Force, or GT ever again. Wow, for such a "high school" offense, it seems some of you guys are really worried. If we can't contain the edge any better than we did this year, GT will have a field day.

Stopping the triple-o involves a lot more than containg the edge; a whole lot more.

Good to see y'all have annoying fans, as well. I was beginning to think my roommate was the only person who's ever been to a Georgia Tech game. Go Bumble Bees!!🐝🐝

There are plenty. Look at the coaches who have historically won big year after year after year. Currently, there's Saban, Meyer, Stoops at Oklahoma, now Swinney at Clemson among others.

Go back to when Fulmer had us rolling in the 90s....some may have argued that 1998 should've been a "rebuilding year", but Fulmer had the program strong and running smoothly. Rather than start over after losing Manning, we adjusted and won the national title.

Championship programs simply do not start over every 3-4 seasons, they simply replace outstanding/great with other, younger, "ready to play", outstanding/great players.

Exactly KB . This is the true measure of Butch . How does he fill the QB position and how ready is the starter ? Does he have another RB in the wings behind Kelly ? Can he replace the WRs ? I think the defense will be fine when / if they have a full rotation of actual DTs ready to play .

Every team graduates and loses players to the league , it how they respond and how well they have prepped their recruits

For me this is his pivotal moment

Man it must really suck losing to Vandy... I Wonder what it's like?

Are you A RECENT GT fan? Some recall your days in the SEC, where you and Tulane couldn't hang with Vandy, GT knows what it's like. By the way bud, the all time series against Vandy by your bugs is you're 20-15-3 all time against them. Throw a $#@%ing party dude. LOL

I too have experience with GT's offense, both playing and coaching.

Truth be told, it's not that tough to stop. It's also incredibly tough to stop.

In most defensive schemes, DLs are given a decent amount of free reign because there's always someone else who can pick up the slack. If a DE gets too far upfield on a pass rush, maybe the DT can adjust and collapse the pocket toward that gap. If a DT doesn't read a screen correctly, other guys can pick up.

With this offense, defensive players have to be disciplined to an extreme extent because that one single weak link can and will be the difference between a gain of 2 and a 74-yard touchdown. Offensive linemen are drilled not just on things like sealing a gap, but the exact place to contact a defender and which direction to steer him. A DL getting undisciplined creates a very fast-moving ripple effect that carries through the rest of the defense.

Fending off the cut block isn't particularly tough either; hell, I coached how to do it. But again, it requires discipline play after play after play.

For a team that runs this offense, there's an old rule. Play a cupcake first, then the best opponent second. The drastic shift in that team's tactics will make it a nightmare for them without that much preparation.

GT fan here, Sorry about the ridiculous post from some GT fans on here. I think this game will teach both fan bases a lot about what the teams will be this upscoming season, it's a better gauge than if both teams were playing small schools. Both teams will be playing new QB's and losing leadership on defense. With that being said it should be a fun game that could go either way. I hope the fans that make the trip to the ATL have safe travels and have a fun time in the new Mercedes-Benz stadium.

On a side note about chop blocks and cut blocks.
Chop blocks are illegal and it's when a blocker is engaged with a defender up top and then another player cuts that defender (not what GT does on purpose, although it happens on the occasion) cut blocks are what GT is taught and it is when one player cuts a defender low on a block. We do this a lot more than most teams but if everyone wants cut blocks to become illegal, it will affect a lot of teams, including Tennessee. I can absolutely guarantee that Tennessee cut blocks, so what's the difference in when GT does it and Tennessee, or any other team does it? Only difference is we do it more.

They should have confidence with the way our defense played at the end of the season (minus the bowl game). Plus with as much as we lost on D...

I'm sure the team will be motivated by that though. Tough game for sure.

Yeah. That's the issue.

Still, my point is it would affect y'all as well. People want it illegal, but what put a limit on how many times per game? how many times it happens shouldn't matter. Imo it would be easier for a guy to get injured not knowing it's coming from a team like Tennessee, than a guy knowing it's coming from GT because you are prepared for it with GT. Regardless though it should be a good game.

I wonder if we can get the invocation for the game changed up a bit? "Lord we ask that you protect these players from Georgia Tech's cut blocking, chop blocking, and clipping, and especially protect their ankles and knees." I would love to know how many teams walk away from Georgia Tech games with players out for the season.
I can't think of any, almost every team cut blocks including Tennessee.

Cut blocking probably needs to be modified further to protect defenders. They've gotten rid of the crackbacks and outside in stuff, but it's still dangerous. Not much difference between getting chopped and getting cut if they don't see it coming.
