Georgia Tech with a message to Tennessee....

Good point. :good!:

We didn't know what to expect from week to week this past season. With that, I don't see how anyone thinks they can prognosticate next year. Who knows what will happen?

And this truthfully is every season. You can guess or predict all you want but you really do not know.

Felt the same going into South Carolina......:eek:hmy:

I get it, but their OL has a bunch of 270 lb guys running around. UK did not want to be there yesterday and was going through the motions IMO. They have solid RBs but we'll flatten them first game of the season, dont see them giving us a ball game.

If I were CBJ, I would pull a page out of Steve Spurrier's old handbook. I would start talking about GT's chop-blocking in mid-August. I'd get it in the news cycle and cause the refs to hyper-sensitive to that type of activity.

Complaining when one of your best DL players is lost for the season is too late.

There are plenty. Look at the coaches who have historically won big year after year after year. Currently, there's Saban, Meyer, Stoops at Oklahoma, now Swinney at Clemson among others.

Go back to when Fulmer had us rolling in the 90s....some may have argued that 1998 should've been a "rebuilding year", but Fulmer had the program strong and running smoothly. Rather than start over after losing Manning, we adjusted and won the national title.

Championship programs simply do not start over every 3-4 seasons, they simply replace outstanding/great with other, younger, "ready to play", outstanding/great players.

I'll give you that. Yeah it would be nice to be at that point. Still, I don't think tennessee is a program to expect that without getting your hope up. Would be nice though.

Keep them off your legs. Be agile and keep legs moving.

I agree with this as well. But another thing you can do is use your hands to keep them more up right and then run through them as we'll have a decided size advantage. I saw one of their guards yesterday playing at 275. There's no way that guy is going to keep a KMac, Vickers, Kongbo, or Tuttle for example from just running over and through them if our guys can get their hands underneath them. They're going to be diving for the ground every play and rolling around, but it hinders their RBs as much as it does our D guys as there's no hole if you got a 270 lb guy spazzing out rolling around the LOS every play, the only place they can go are the edges.

Glad we agree. Hopefully, at some point we see another run like we had 1989 to 2004 or so and are able to maintain some consistency so that we never have a 6-7 year period of futility like we've seen in recent years again. I'm convinced that it begins and ends with the right leadership from the University President on down with all levels being on the same page being fully committed to having a winning program. Sure hope Ms Davenport was the right hire and we bring the right AD in as well.

People talking crap must not remember Air Force...I still think they would have beat us if they went for the XP instead of for 2 at the end there. We were also ranked in the top 10 early that year, IIRC

A family member of mine, baseball pitcher, goes to tech. So I am ready with the Tech shouldn't be allowed to block like that comments lol.

How quickly we forget the early out of conference game was Virginia Tech which we routed in the Battle at Bristol.

Go back and watch the replay of the game, and tell me how much of that win was Vols execution vs VA Tech footshooting.

We pulled off a win, but it was just another example of how team 120 still couldn't put 4 quarters of football together in a single game. Until VA Tech started fumbling, our defense had no answer for their offense.

Yes Sir.........I agree with this post.

^This- Be proactive. I'd also want the NCAA rules committee to be more aware of this bs. Needs to be illegal.

You guys are interpreting the tweet all wrong. It's not a dig at Tennessee, it's a dig at Georgia.

:)

Good luck next year. And don't freak out about cut blocking, it's a normal thing all big boy football teams do, and Butch has prepared for it before.

(Unlike Stoops apparently, lol)

Truthfully, the main thing you have to worry about is devoting too much time to GT prep in the spring and it eating into your ordinary player development time.
