You know as well as I do if UT blocks for 4 quarters wolf, Malone and north will have big days considering Uga secondary looks completely lost.

This is actually a really cool thread. Yes Georgia running backs are going to get their yards. The question is can UT linebackers stop them?


Basically I see this as an AJ Johnson Todd Gurley match up.

If I were Todd Gurley I absolutely would NOT want to be hit by the beast that is AJ Johnson, and kind of like Gurley AJ has been everywhere on the field this year.


I kind of have this feeling AJ is going to take this Todd Gurley match up personal, and he is going to hit beast mode. (CRAP he has already been in beast mode all season).

Believe it or not linebackers and corners have been a strength for Tennessee this year.


The only question on defense is if our line can penetrate quickly. If we can it is going to be a LONG day for Georgia.



This game is in my opinion more important than OK to see where we are as a team.

You forgot one but in fairness it took me a while to find them as well.

S. Carolina - 83

Clemson allowed Gurley to take over the game in the 2nd half. I think most will concede that he is capable of doing that and if we allow that to happen we will get beat. That and our offensive production has to be better than what we saw against OU for us to have a chance to win.

I have seen all the great backs at UGA, except Sinkwich and Trippi.

Herschel - Only 3 time consensus All American in CFB history. 1st Team All Century Team, Offensive Player of the Century.

Tim Worley - All American, 1st round pick.
Rodney Hampton, All American, 1st round pick.
Robert Edwards, All American, 1st round pick
Garrison Hearst, All American, 1st round pick
Terrell Davis, Super Bowl MVP
Knowshon Moreno, All American, 1st round pick.

Gurley is the best back at UGA since Herschel, and it isn't close.

Gurley will have several 10+ yard runs. It's undeniable. But if we can prevent those 10+ from turning into 50+ yard touchdowns, then I think we're in good shape.

My biggest nightmare is envisioning scenarios in which Gurley will make it to the second level, and that one of our safeties will get beat bad on a missed tackle and result in an easy touchdown.

Sutton is a quality corner back who can hold his own on man to man coverage. But I'm not sure I trust the other defensive backs with my heart. Not saying they are bad, but mistakes can happen. But the only way of truly limiting their run game is by stacking the box and going man to man defensively. So crossing my fingers we make no big mistakes in the secondary.

Vic Beasley is a better defensive player. Skai Moore from USuCk is really good too. So are Jayron Kearse and Robert Smith from Clemsuck also.

What happened when true freshman Toddy Gurley took on Tennessee in Athens two years ago? Even then, he got overshadowed by an even bigger game from Keith Marshall .. all this with a weaker (by anyone's account) offensive line. SO YES, that has been proven.

Yeah, very easy to say on Wednesday before the game. But you would be hard pressed to find someone that won't put Clemson's front 7 over UT's front 7, especially where the DL is concerned. Clemson is out of the top 25 now because they also had to go to Tallahassee and play FSU .. and held them to 13 yards rushing. Even without Jameis, that's a real stat.

Most people? Did Gallup poll it? Most people recognize Gurley as a great back and potential Heisman candidate.

When "most" of us think of "generational" players... we think of Walker, Bo Jackson, OJ Simpson, Archie Griffin, Barry Sanders.... It takes MUCH more time than less than 3 years to put something like that into perspective even if a guy deserves the title.

The back-up QB had -46 yards so their total was 59 yards ergo the sacks so that make your statement even without Winston not so good. Not so much the rushing but the dynamic of Winston would have completely changed the whole stat structure, wouldn't hang my hat on this game.

You would hope that they would make some adjustments after being walked on, right? But if you would really like to play that game then your passing game must be absolutely horrible. FSU's back up QB threw for 304 yds against Clemson. Mason only had 131.

We both know that logic doesn't carry... I hope. But neither does what you just tried to play. I would probably give you Clemson's DL over UT's at this point but I'd take UT's LB's. You can call it homerism but I have observed both groups. Their LB's just don't look very good.

Lastly, I hope you do not actually believe that FSU would have struggled to run the ball that much vs CU if Winston had played. It is pretty obvious that CU's strategy was to make Maguire beat them. Clemson DID expose FSU's Achilles Heel. If Winston goes down... they're toast.

Even if you take out ALL the negative yardage they only had 63 yards rushing. FSU was still the number 1 team in the country and it was in Tallahassee. With all the talent on that team, they should still be able to move the ball better than that at home.
