George Mac

The way he calmly moved around in the pocket, then got outside, and still delivers a strike…He will be the starter next year.
Mac should be the number two qb now or maybe even the starter, nothing bad about JA, he is doing good, but this is his last year. And I think Mac would do just as well from what I seen Sat. and he is a freshman.

Watching him in the 4th quarter against etsu bench players tells you all this?

It will hold true for eternity that there is no better player in the world than a backup qb

If he is the guy next year, then Faizon is transferring after the season

I think Heupel is going to go with the higher ceiling freshman in Faizon. Has to make his choice this off-season, because the loser isn’t sticking around to sit behind another freshman

Plus Mac doesn’t look like a guy that has the genes/metabolism to magically add 30-40 lbs before next season

I dont see how we can pay the #1 QB in the country a couple million dollars a year to ride the bench 2 years in a row...
Exactly

That’s because he will be the starter next year or transfer at the end of next season

He will be the starter, I would bet money on it. They aren’t bringing him here to sit on the bench behind another freshman, because no top QB would do that long term in this era

I agree that whichever one doesn't start will transfer. I really like Hype as our hc, and would not trade him for any other coach, If he has a weakness imo it is in evaluating qb. The qb with the highest ceiling isn't allways the best choice. Milton and Nico both had a high ceiling, It's how they perfrom in the game that matters, not what they have the potential to be. Just my opinion. And Mac wants to be here, not just for nil money, to me that should be considered if it is close in the competition.

Yesterday, what I saw said: Aguilara #1, GMac #2, Phillips #3, Merk #4. Having said that, I think it may be a little early to write off Merk.

Back to GMac, he reminded me so much of Manning. Seemed to have good wheels though. Really nice touch on passes, except for that one down the sideline. He definitely looks to have a future. I didn't really notice his light weight like others did. Maybe coaches are just waiting for him to put on weight, knowing he couldn't easily survive the SEC right now.

We really don't look to have any major worries at qb. All 4 can play (making assumptions Phillips is a decent passer). Competition is a good thing.

And honestly it doesn’t seem all that close. It’s a bit of a head scratcher to me as to why George isn’t the clear backup but maybe Heupel is just letting Merk have QB2 for now to keep him from entering the December portal? If Joey gets hurt and Merk transfers we’d enter the playoffs with 1 undersized true freshman QB. Not ideal.
I think JH wants to have Merk's knowledge of the offense, if JA got dinged up...more of a comfort level against hostile competition.....
Agree GM got the better arm probably not as ready as Merk vs. SEC level defenses.

^^^ I love G-Mac and think he has a bright future but the bench players for ETSU would be lucky to beat one of our local high schools.
