George Mac

Neither freshman is losing the job to another freshman and sitting behind him. Not happening

Too many opportunities out there to transfer and be a starting QB
Wishful thinking I guess haha. I guess we’ll see how it plays out.

If he is the guy next year, then Faizon is transferring after the season

I think Heupel is going to go with the higher ceiling freshman in Faizon. Has to make his choice this off-season, because the loser isn’t sticking around to sit behind another freshman

Plus Mac doesn’t look like a guy that has the genes/metabolism to magically add 30-40 lbs before next season
Faizon Brandon is the future qb. Top notch athlete , cannon of arm with accuracy. Pure speed

Agreed and the NIL value of a back-up QB is nothing compared to be the face of a program. These kids have a short window to make their dollars and sitting on the bench for two years isn’t part of the plan for neither of them.

Maybe. Maybe not. Sounds a lot like the freshman qb conversation 31 years ago. There are multiple examples of the most physically talented guy not being the best qb, Hooker/Milton being our most recent one.

Macintyre will have a tremendous leg up in the competition having a year’s head start.

Regardless, my vote will be for the qb who can best lead us to W’s. Not how strong their arm is, not how muscle bound they are, not who their grandfather is, etc.

He has zero leg up at the size he is

Can’t even think of putting that kid in a sec game, unless he gains a lot of weight

Just a question for board members smarter than me (almost everyone). Do you thing Merk would have been more effective with the starting Offense? He didn't seem to have as clean a pocket as Joey.

What makes everyone think Faizon has a higher ceiling?

Joe Milton has a cannon and Nico is a tremendous athlete but what limits their ceiling is what exists between the ears. The QB who sees the field best and makes the best decisions should win the job.

Imaleaving sit behind Joe Milton.
Whole different scenario. Nico knew Joe was gone after one season if G-Mac redshirts he would have at a minimum 2 more seasons and I don’t see Brandon sitting for two years. If Brandon wins the job G-Mac is looking at maybe playing his redshirt senior year.

There is just too much money involved now days for these guys to sit and wait their turn IMO.

Watched him in high school. Great physical talent with height and athleticism. From a great generational big time football family. He’s the future here IMO

I think Gmac will beat Faizon for the starting job next year. That will be better for BOTH QBs honestly. GMac better be ready to turn pro at the end of the season though because Brandon will be ready in 2027. I dont see how we can pay the #1 QB in the country a couple million dollars a year to ride the bench 2 years in a row...

As we've evidently already forgotten, there are critical abilities your starting QB needs that just aren't evident until you have a year invested in them and observe how they function in an actual game.

And after that, you still don't know what their ceiling is, as far as development over the next 1-3 years.

Smart guys will stay because it's been proven what Josh Heupel can do to develop quarterbacks, plus--no QB wants to get out on the field in front of 101,000 fans if they aren't 100% ready to run this offense. Every recruit says the same about our coaching staff: They tell you the truth, even when that's not what you want to hear. But you can trust what they say.

He can’t go pro after next season. Must have 3 yrs post high school to go in draft.

You think he would get a paycut? There's a Manning kid in texas that waited.
