Genius of Fulmer?

Did Fulmer not go down in flames, get fired and never get another coaching job? As I've said before, Sears was a massive business but at the end of the day they were a failed business. Fulmer had success but failed and was fired. Majors firing here came in the midst of his best seasons and best recruiting. Fulmers firing came long after his best days were in the rearview mirror.

To buy your version of history you have to align with Hamilton's judgements. Not a good place to be. Last 3 years of 9-4 10-4 and 5-7 is what it is but not much of a trend line can come from it. The problem is everybody has tried to hold the program to his best years standards without accepting cycles. His last year put his job in play, and had he been replaced with a winner we could view the results differently, but that is simply not the case. For about the 5th time I will challenge those who are attacking him as an AD to show me all the sports trendlines and justify their statements. Doubt he gets to the AD HOF but every place but FB I look I find stability or improvement. You have any exceptions? Certainly not a net negative. Doubt Kellie ever makes us forget Pat, but she is going a down a path to make us forget the worst years in our recent path and in order to do that he stepped up and fired a friend. I do not see a NET NET negative anywhere.

If Majors was the AD he would have hired Kiffin in 2017 and we would have had 3 years of fun football.

What from his past make you think Majors would have touched a guy who dumped his school with as much as a phone call for a second shot?
Tolerance was not one of his hallmarks that I remember. Thus the turnover we associate with his career. Not a bad thing, but a real thing.

Good grief. Fulmer is set to cost UT millions and has set us back another 3 or 4 years with the crap show rolling at UT right now. He's a failed coach who turned failed AD.

151-52-1 coaching record for Fulmer. You have some high standards if that is "failed".

Even if it were true, I can’t comprehend calling someone a genius because they set fire to their own house just so their neighbor’s house would burn down too

Since Fuller is the AD he could be fired for cause too for not following NCAA rules and following compliance. Right?

Majors grew up in a different era and had no tolerance for incompetence. If his mother had been our offensive coordinator and we were not scoring enough points he would have fired her. He developed some very good coaches and had a very productive coaching tree both college and pro.

Ok, so what supports he would have invited Kiffin back in 17'? Just don't see it as a possibility. That was the only question involved.

Well Bill Lee is the governor and he is over the UT system, and therefore over Fulmer and he could go down too. But doubt that happens either. They will all be measured by the infamous WHAT DID THEY KNOW AND WHEN DID THEY KNOW IT question.

Very , very true.

I miss coach majors.
Legend has it that JohnnyMajorsGhost haunts this board, bringing misfortune upon all the Fulmerites. The legend further states that if you say his name three times he will appear…a la Beetlejuice The Bell Witch , The Candyman, etc…

Here , I’ll try

I’ll go back to my original question by that argument Majors was a failed coach (I don’t agree). When he went back to Pittsburgh he was 3-8, 3-8, 2-9 and 4-7

Coach Majors failed at Pittsburgh his second time there and he would be the first to admit it.

There's no need to diss Fulmer as a coach. He's no longer a coach, he's an AD....... and THE revenue sport at UT, football, is floundering, under an internal investigation, AND he's reportedly meddling in the film room.

I'm thankful for Phil Fulmer's accomplishments at UT and I won't be part of trashing his coaching. Since he's been AD, however, and YES...... a million times YES....... he stepped into an awful spot as AD, the football program isn't just not excelling, as we expect, it's regressing.

Thanks, Phil. You don't need this. You've done enough for UT. Be a part of the solution and retire.

All Head Coaches with great all time records start to slide and get pushed out. Bobby Bowden, Steve Spurrier, Lloyd Carr, Mack Brown, Lou Holtz, Frank Beamer, Johnny Majors....to name a few. The “fail” part is directed at the end of the career.
You want to know why most on here are pissed and done with Fulmer now? This speech right here got our hopes up....believing....instead look what he got us in after this tough guy speech.

I understand your point, but Coach Majors really didn't slide. He had one bad season coming off of 3 SEC titles in a six-year span. I hope we can get the ship righted. Many disagree with me, but fat-boy Judas Brutus is the origin of all of our troubles.

SO, personal attacks are included in your arsenal of inaccuracy? NICE.
