General Nathan Bedford Forrest Billboard in Selma

Nathan Bedford Forrest, like Andy Jackson, was a great man. Nathan was not a big man, but like Andy Jackson, nobody started any crap with him.

Forrest, in his later years, became a devout Christian.

In his final speech, in Memphis, to a group of blacks, Forrest was handed a bouquet of flowers by a black woman.

Forrest Park, in Memphis, is where Nathan and his wife, Mary Ann, are buried. The Memphis communists changed the name of Forrest Park to 'health sciences park'.

all of the Confederate themed parks were changed

Which I have a problem with to a degree, trying to rewrite history is insulting. There has to be a balance to be found in preserving history (for right or wrong) and culture while appeasing the masses. They could easily have built monuments for Civil Rights leaders while allowing the parks to stay. Both are important areas of the South's history.

Unlike Hitler, Forrest also became repentant in his later life.

So if Adolf had become repentant then it absolves him of his atrocities? As far as forest goes, his repentantce is between him and god. He should not be celebrated in any form or fashion. Should his history be known? Absolutely. Should that include his success on the battle field? Absolutely. Should that include that he became repentant? Absolutely. Should it include his ignorance and ruthlessness? Absolutely .

All historical figures need to be presented warts and all, no whitewashing of deeds.

Like a President who had a history of sexual relations with his personal property (or 3/5 of a human depending on how you define slaves)?

I hope not. I frequently pray the God and Jesus have a supernaturally developed sense of humor

They must have a sense of humor, otherwise they would have wiped us out long ago.

I get what you are saying, but just like the military bases, a lot of the public parks were named as a means of appeasing the new Democrats to ensure they would be funded. I would guess you could almost use the naming of parks, bridges and military bases to determine when various Jim Crow laws became effective.

This isn't about representing him as a historical figure. This is about promoting a racist agenda.

Which I respect their right to do so. But let's not be dishonest and their purpose.
