had so much more impact on the program than Ed Orgeron. All of the people heralding what an upgrade hiring a glorified personal trainer was really nailed that one.
To me it shows that Dooley is willing to make tough calls that might be unpopular to be as competitive as possible.
I believe it shows the man is completely driven to prove himself at the highest level. Exactly what we need.
The first part of that statement doesn't come as any surprise. If true, the second part is simply a testament to how good O is as a defensive line coach. The guys he took over from at UT were pretty damn good.I was told by a player on the team that he did not learn a thing from Chuck and that he learned more under Ed in one year than his previous two.
And give Dooley props for making a swift call to make an improvement instead of letting it fester.
Sirmon was very valuable last year. So much so that Dooley wanted him full time. This is an upgrade.

Some may not credit Dooley because he is the head man and this is simply part of his responsibility, but this couldn't have been an easy situation for him. By most accounts he has had to deal with it for some time now. He deserves a ton credit for his decisiveness and quick action and for holding on to his DC as a result.
The importance of having both coordinators back for Dooley's second season cannot be overstated.

Making the tough call is his job....to me how he did it was what impressed me.
