I picked up Gears of War tonight and have played it for an hour or two. It starts of kind of slow but it's a pretty decent game so far. I reminded me a litte of Halo starting out, I don't know why. The part I have gotten to now is pretty intense.
I would have to say that I am intrigued to play more to see how it turns out. I was mildly disappointed at first but the more I have played it seems to be growing on me some.
We will see how much time I end up spending on this one. I have a feeling it's going to collect dust with COD3 coming out tomorrow.
The controls are different? Well, it seems that big-time XBox games might be changing a bit.Wish I could have played some more. It's interesting, but I need more time to decide if I like it.
I loaded it up, played 15 minutes and then had to run upstairs for a second...I though. About an hour and a half later after dealing with the dog, wife, taking out trash, etc. I was able to unpause it. So, all in all, I got about 30 minutes of gameplay in.
Seems good and certainly very pretty. Just not sure it's my type of game. The controls are different than traditional shooters which is taking me awhile to get.

Next step, remove the guns and see if the system gets a decent game.
I think True Crime had button exclusively for cover. It's not that at all. I don't think I've ever played a game like this on a console. It's not a first person shooter, and it's really the first (or one of the first) game to have a button mapped just for cover. Glad to play something new, just takes awhile to get used to it.
