Gators are Scared!

Y2K All over.
Planes falling from the sky I tell you.

I wish we would have another one of those Y2K things again. That was one hell of a party!! Drunk off my butt and girls were feeling mighty frisky, thinking it might be their last night on earth before the apocalyptic meltdown began.

I miss the 20th Century. Good times.

You da man. (Intentional outdated phrase) :)

Prince song was played more that year than when it was released.
Weird but good times.

This.

I despise Florida form than any other SEC team and I hope we beat the brakes off of them for the next 10 years straight.

That being said, it amazes me how much trash we talk about a team that is 20-6 against us since joining the SEC. They're not scared of us and never will be. Are we scared of the teams we've historically owned, even when they are supposed to bee good? Exactly. Although no one will admit it, deep down we're the ones that are scared.....scared that even with all the hype, talent, and experience, they just might come in our house and take another one to make it 12 straight.

I'm with you 100%. I don't talk trash with Gators cause they have owned us for the 15-20 years. I am legitimately scared they will beat us again; they can line up almost anyone and I would still be nervous that they
beat us again. Your post is about realistic as it gets, and I do hope and pray we some how beat them this year.

Do they even have a QB?

Who am I kidding it doesn't probably matter if they have one or not to squeek out another win..

Better question is who is their backup?

Don't they have some former Vandy WR running reps as third string QB? I'd be more afraid of him entering the game. We've seen what happens when a WR plays QB against us.

To the Gator fan who said they'd beat us 27-9: if you win at all, it will be in a close game, because we blew it again. A young UF team with a new QB making his first road start will not come into Neyland and dominate a top 10-15 team with more depth and talent. Football doesn't work that way.

Normally I'd agree but we had a loads of talent before and found ways to lose.

floriDUHHH is not scared.

They just KNOW for a fact that the streak is DEAD, they have zero doubts about that at all.

They know it, we know it, the national press and everyone that follows SEC football knows it.

This is the year our Tennessee footVol team starts our WIN streak of many years to come.

Team 120, earning their respect WIN by WIN...VFL...GBO!!!

That was my line of thinking too, until Algator posted he is always "scared" to play the Vols. And then when on to explain how he just can't help being scared. Being scared of the Vols must be part of gator fan DNA.

Well, it probably has more to do with the fact that neither team really ever blows the other team out (minus '90, '94, '95, and '07) (BTW, that 1990 (42 pts) game was the biggest ever margin of victory between these two)

Even when UT won the championship in 98 and Florida in 06 both games were won by a combined 4 points.

I agree. The gators have good reason to be "scared" of the Vols. If you're "scared", then say you're "scared" and move on. You said you are "scared". I'm not offended by your honesty.

See you in Knoxville.

My bad. Don't be "scared", just get prepared for the loss. Y'all had great practice of how to deal with losses at the end of last year. This year it will just start earlier. Maybe y'all can hold it together long enough for the Vols to give y'all your 1st loss on the year, if y'all can get past Ky.

Well I will say this. You could take Dobbs (5*) and Hurd (5*) and put them on pretty much any team in the SEC and they'd win. Just like you could have put Tebow (5*) and Harvin (5*) on any team they would have won.

But, could you have put Will Grier (4*) (or Treon Harris 4*) and Antonio Callaway (3* and true freshman) on any team and win 5 straight (including wins over the Vols and Ole Miss)? I'm not so sure.

That team last year over achieved in a big way. They started spring practice with only 6 scholarship O-linemen. Not even enough for a full two deep rotation! And they won the east! Say what?!

My point is, I have faith in this staff (who did not lose anyone during the off season thank goodness) The team last year had serious problems and the team this year has A LOT fewer serious problems. So, we'll see what happens :good!:

The East the last few years has honestly been all about which coach can take advantage of a down period in the East power structure.

Butch couldn't, but Mac and Richt were able to for the past few years. I think the East is beginning to fix itself. Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee are all well on their way to becoming strong programs again. Soon, it's going to be all about coaching because the talent levels will be reaching equivalent levels over the next few years.

During the past couple years, it's been all about who can just take advantage of less-talented teams, not shoot themselves in the foot, and make a few plays here and there. Florida did that last year. But I think real soon things are going to change, and the East will become a talented slugfest once more.

Florida's and Georgia's spring games were earily similar. Both had quarterbacks that looked poised to take over in a big way. However if you watch the plays carefully, the ones where they made big throws were ones where the defense set back and only rushed a few. By and large when pressure was applied the results weren't as pretty.

Not saying it is a reason to guarantee ourselves a victory, but it does make one wonder just how effective the offense at each school will be. Especially at Georgia now that Michel is out for the start of the season.

There are so many factors involved in getting wins. From what I've seen if you don't have a good QB, it's harder to win. Not to say that you can't lose with a great QB, just that it's so hard to win with a bad QB.

As bad as we were last year, it would have taken very little improvement or change to really impact last years results. So if every other aspect or stat remains the same a minor adjustment to one facet and we win more games.

Example:
Easiest FG %. We missed enough of them to have been undefeated.

Then 4th down %. 4th down conversion saved the Ga game, but it was brutal the rest of the year.

So the point is with us having the same( or close to it) team as last year, and then add our new players, we will be better and more experienced. Every team we lost to last year and play this year if they have a dip in how good they are, it could be disastrous.

As we improve the gators have a dip, there is a gap that is being created and we have the advantage.

The pressure is on CBJ, he has gathered all this talent, what will he do with it? It would be in his best interest to win games, lots and lots of games.

It's a relief to Vol fans that he has year long Captains, they can make some of the decisions. CBJ gets too emotional at times, Dobbs is way more level headed than CBJ, Jones about lost it against Ky. How well CBJ has coached them will be evident by this years results. They need to tell him "we got this coach", then CBJ need to let them handle it.

I like our chances.

I just makes sense.

See you in Knoxville, I would say Tampa, but y'all won't be there unless you got there for vacation.

Go Vols!

Exactly. For what ever reason if Ga doesn't get better, they are going to be in trouble and I don't care that the game is in Athens, if they play like they did last year with the dropped pass, fumbles and penalties, it will get ugly.

See you in Tampa.

I personally don't sweat Georgia at all. We would've rolled UGA last year if not for Hurd's fumble on the goaline which miraculously popped straight up in the air for Floyd to run back and the illegitimate punt return for TD that shouldn't have been allowed due to penalty.

The Dawgs have a new staff and either no QB or a true freshman QB.....I think we come out of Athens with a 17-24 point win.

That would be a great road trip. I've been there once and it didn't work out, time to get back down there a pick up the W. I've never been to a Ga game that we won, I might should stay away.

It's hard to win without a good QB. Smart will bring a spark to the program, if he knows what he is doing they will be tough. His 2017 class will tell his future.

Wow....seriously? So many people on this board seem so confident we blowout Florida and Georgia, but I don't see any reason to believe these won't be slugfests like always. Kirby will be itching to prove himself and I have been reading great things on Eason. You can bet that GA will throw the kitchen sink at us.

I hope all those blowouts wins people are predicting occur, but I just don't foresee anything but close games during that 4-game gauntlet.

#120 will be a better than #119. All of Ga hopes and dreams are on Chubb's knee. I hope he is back to 100%, just for his sake, and even if that does happen, Shoop has already said that nobody is gonna run on us. Our defense is going to be a game changer, it's not about Ga and what do they have, it's about #120. Ga is gonna need some help and they won't be getting any from #120.

The biggest takeaway from Florida's spring game was how the starting QB was throwing the ball on time. He went against the 2nd string defense but he was throwing the ball to the correct receiver and on time.

We have 3 warm up games before we head to Knoxville.
