The going rate for SEC championship caliber coaching is >$7,000,000.00 these days. Come on over to the the 21st century grandpa as I'm one as well and that is what they draw if proven these days.
I have no problem with a coach making millions, I 100% support Shoop making close to $2,000,000 here. My problem is that Butch's record before and since arriving here don't support that amount. I looked at his overall winning % prior to last year and it was in the very low 60s. Brian Kelley followed a similar path and is at almost 70. For comparison Urban is in the 90s, Saban is in the 80s due to some bad MSU teams.
I think Butch is a great recruiter, a good team builder, an ok strategist, and a bad game day coach. Maybe we luck out and have a good season like Muschamp did, but Butch's own record shows he is an average coach. Maybe he turns it around and consistently wins 10+ games a year but the stats say he won't.

This is dumb. Butch isn't being paid for only what he has accomplished. He is being paid for what they expect he will accomplish. After back to back Top 5 recruiting classes the administration saw the momentum we had going and wanted to secure the future.
Whether that works out like we hope remains to be seen, but after years of instability and poor coaching the one thing this program needed was a sense of stability and leadership. Hart and the athletic department smartly recognized this and showed Butch some appreciation before another program had the chance to come in and make him a better offer and leave us out in the cold again.
This is just the nature of the game now. You have to pay these coaches this kind of money to keep them. Also, you say the "stats" don't show he is a good coach. Well, look what Butch has had to work with so far. Prior to last year, Butch has been coaching with a fridge full of milk well past its expiration date. Yes, last year there were several coaching blunders we all like to discuss, but Butch showed improvement. Until we see how this year plays out it's impossible to state that Butch is just an average/poor coach on the field. He hasn't had the cards to keep up. This year it will be appropriate to assess him.

I hope we do pull away in the 4th! God knows I can't take these heartbreaking close games anymore, especially against these Gators
Using logic with him is a waste of time. He sees nothing that's happened and sees no progress. He will either change his tune later, give all the credit to Shoop (this is my guess, along with his twin KB) or disappear until something doesn't go right and pounce with a "see, I told ya".
If we win next year due to our defense completely shutting down teams and causing lots of turnovers then yea I'll give Shoop the credit. If we win because the offense keeps their foot on the gas, players come out of fall camp healthy and we don't have to suspend or kick anyone off the team, we don't start Jumper or any other scrub, we go for it on 4th and a foot on the goal line, etc then I will give Butch the credit.

How you have 1,160 likes amazes me. There must have been some super depressing days on VN back before I made an account here.
Drag yourself out of the doldrums. Its time to have a little more positive outlook.
I work with a Gator grad. He's been flapping his yap for weeks. I'm keeping my cool and not saying much. I hope I can rub it in. He says they could dress a Gainesville high school and probably beat us most years.
This thread is about as stupid and idiotic as they come.
1st: Florida isn't scared. They recognize we have better talent this year, but that doesn't always translate to winking games.
2nd: Can we beat a team before we have a thread, talking about how they are scared? They have beaten us 11 straight years.

That whole ignore feature thingy means he can't see your response. I could quote you so he could, but I won't.
Which begs the question....if you quote yourself, and someone has you on ignore, how does that show up? Is it still just one ignore message? Does it give two ignore messages since you quoted yourself? Or does it cause their computer to crash trying to figure out what the hell to do?
