hating doesn't make you a bad person. BTW, big oil is not completely to blame....For the most part, all we do is drill.

I'm not familiar with a time that the companies, themselves, controlled prices. Prices are set by the commodities markets, in the case of the hard commodity and stock prices (most are publicly traded) are determined by buyers and sellers in open markets.

Gov't policy, gov't taxes (local, state & fed), and world goings ons tend to affect oil prices more than the companies that produce it...

Also, oil companies exporting a **** load of gas and fuel from the US might tend to hold the citizens hostage.

Yes, I'm aware that foreign countries purchase oil through markets located in this country. The "big" oil companies sell their oil through clearinghouses, not through contracts with foreign countries. Not sure how "we" suffer because of that...Those same markets that sell to foreign countries also purchase oil from manufacturers located in this country.

We're exporting a lot more now than we used to. Reason being, believe it or not, US consumption is down. So, it goes out of country for higher profit when I think it could stay in and lower prices. I know all about the commodity trading bs that creates the gas prices yada yada yada. Smokescreen established years ago to cover the theft. I know a little about this stuff as I retired after 28 years from a company that had a bit to do with it. Discounts/annual bonuses were mighty fine. Probably would have been happier being a plumber or something.
