"Gamers without Internet can stick with 360" -Microsoft

This is the same kind of arrogance that Sony showed upfront with the PS3.

Enjoy being the loser this round, Microsoft. I know I'm not going with your system despite being a customer for the last decade.

I am sure this guy gets paid a lot of money, and the investment that MS has put into to this guy's was wasted with one comment he made. I am still getting one, but I am sure that just pissed away a lot of sales.

This is the kind of thing aspiring business owners should be paying attention to. Sony has done everything right, and Microsoft has done everything wrong.

Coming from the guy who said "If you're backwards compatible, you're really backwards." Someone needs to put this guy on a leash.

Who games without the Internet these days?

Thy only thing I play online is BO2. Other than that, I have no need for internet for every other game I own.

Although I probably won't be playing online for a while when the new systems come out as I'm gonna wait for a price drop/bugs to be worked out before I drop money on a ps4 or xbox one.

I just don't see what the big deal is. My 360 has been hooked up to a modem since the day I bought. I honestly don't know a single person without Internet service.

It seems like an unnecessary function and a function that will only deter gamers from buying, so not sure why they went that route in the first place but in the end it still seems like its nothing to be up in arms about.

Because you're shafting the people that have an internet connection, but that connection might be too crappy for multiplayer or for games to constantly run online checks.

Also, see the recent Sim City launch and how disastrous that was, and that was 100% because of the online requirement.

It's not about the fact that nearly everyone's Xbox would be hooked up to the Internet 99.9% of the time. What if you rent a cabin for a birthday party and you want to take your xbox up there and hook it up to the big screen, but there's no Internet?

What if you want to take it tailgating and hook it up to the TV to play some NCAA football?

They should leave the functionality in case you need it, not just assume "well, you probably won't ever need to play it offline."

My ps3 wasn't hooked up to internet the first year I had it.

Didn't really do much online till my friends convinced me to buy a 360 so I could play with them. Outside of that, I have no need for an internet connection for games.

Tried playing yesterday afternoon with friends and my internet connection was acting up. Ended up quitting bo2 and playing something single player instead. Good thing I wasn't required to be online, otherwise my xbox would have been useless.

"Simple, just work a bit harder and then purchase one of these. "

True. Like I said, it seems completely unnecessary and I'm not sure why they went that route but it won't bother me any because mine is always online.

With all that said I'm not sure which console I'm going to get at this point, going to wait a few months after their release anyway.

Gamers Without Internet Can Stick With Xbox 360, Says Microsoft - IGN

Thread title is the jist of the article but you should read for yourself. Basically saying if you don't have internet you have no business owning an XBox One.

IMO Microsoft is burying themselves with this new system. Sony should be capitalizing on their stupidity right now.

Assuming that this moron is actually in a marketing function, that dude just made a seriously career-limiting statement.

I'm sure Microsoft loves hearing their executives giving people a reason to not buy their product.

Seriously, when I read the blogs and thought about who’s really the most impacted there was a person who said, ‘Hey I’m on a nuclear sub.’ And I don’t even know what it means to be on a nuclear sub but I’ve got to imagine it’s not easy to get an internet connection. But hey, I can empathise; if I was on a sub I’d be disappointed.

This should become an internet meme legend.

I can understand why people are irritated by this, but fail to see how they don't get that this is simply an easy way for MS to MASSIVELY cut down on piracy. I'm sure there are some people who legitimately don't have access to a decent internet connection, but I imagine that a big majority of the outcry is from people who have been stealing games for years and are pissed off that the gravy train is finally coming to an end.
