Game tonight has made it obvious

They literally have to coach around the limitations of this QB and Pruitt still thinks he gives them the best chance to win.
That is one thing that was painfully obvious from this auburn game.
Most throws JG made were at or behind the line of scrimmage
Hell, he wouldn't even throw the hail Mary!

Then one throw he was given to go downfield was pick 6'ed.
It was so obvious that they were "throwing and passing" but it was merely a long handoff
Bailey had some overthrows yes but when he came in ot was a vertical passing game.

It's amazing that Gray got 8 a carry when they stacked the box
The sacks were on JG and the line played very good

That Pruitt is not the guy. I’ll be honest, before tonight I was still willing to believe pruitt still could bring us back to where we want to be. After watching this game, I have never seen worse coaching in my life. We come out hot, offense is firing on all cylinders, just for us to move away from what we were doing. And auburn did not adjust; they were stacking the box all game long. We simply went away from what worked. That’s what makes watching this team so painful. You see that we have the potential to compete with teams, and then the coaches get scared and coach to not lose. Gray averaged over 8 yards a carry; how in the world are we only able to put up 17 points. Defense looks pathetic in year 3, no halftime adjustments; I could go on. Depressing. Pruitt has not learned from anything that has happened in his HC career it seems.
Yeah , Pruitt sucks.

It just doesn't work with him in the game. Has no awareness, doesn't move around in the pocket, holds the ball to long, throws late over the middle and behind receivers. According to Pruitt though he gives us the best chance.. It's coaching malpractice. Pay this guy his laughable buyout and move on, they'll waste another year or two watching this same rerun..

I can count on one hand, how many times we've lost, with over 200 yards rushing, in my lifetime. I am 53 years old!

I know the defense has been kicked around a lot this season, some of it has been warranted IMO some not. However last night's effort by our defense was good enough for us to win the game. Think not? If Cimaglia makes his two missed FGs, that last possession by HB could have been a game winner. Granted it was an INT on the last play BUT if we're playing for all the marbles in this game, the defense played well enough to win. Our special teams and the offense sucked.

Glad you've decided to join us. It's not any less frustrating, but at least taking the blue pill allows you to recognize fact from fiction. Welcome to the club.

Then fire his ass too. If Fulmer can’t admit there is zero progress here and make a change then he needs to GTFO too.

Amen brother. We're starting to remember why we fired Fulmer the first time. The last coaching search was such a clown show, it initially felt like a relief to have a VFL back as the AD. That halo is fading fast. If Fulmer can't move on this, it shows he didn't learn from his previous experience at UT and/or life beyond it.

I can't even bring myself to vent about Pruitt or JG anymore. It's pointless. Neither is capable of doing the job they are given, and yet, those who've given them that job aren't capable of doing the one they are given. What do we expect to happen. Give it up guys. Tennessee won't be relevant for a couple more decades until those in charge die off. Then maybe some new blood will come in and fix this. Until then, I just don't see the point in caring anymore. It's not fair weather fan, I've endured enough **** weather and supported the team over the past two decades. I no longer wish to. That makes me sad to say, and I shouldn't have to be sad.

As the song says.

Stop telling me I have to calm down. You're not mad enough.

Until the leadership, boosters, whoever, at Tennessee gets mad enough to fix this. It will not be. They weren't mad at Butch, or Dooley, they did just enough to get fans to come back. They honestly don't care that much about success. If they did, we wouldn't be here.

Delusions of grandeur are most rampant among Tennessee fans. It was barely 3 months ago that Pruitt was hailed as the future HC at Alabama and a good HC here... Well, look at reality. I wasn't a Schiano backer but look what he's done since his return to Rutgers... They haven't won but they are at least very, very competitive. That hasn't happened since he left there. They actually gave the games away to Illinois and Michigan and played Indiana reasonably well. Even OSU wasn't a total blowout.

At this point the most plausible explanation for the unexplainable is that JG has something on the coach... voodoo, hypnosis, compromising film. This season has been pathetic, and I fear it will GET WORSE.

It’s disgusting to even think that the Vandy game might be a flip is really where we are with this program. It’s obvious that we have enough talent on this team to not only compete, but win games like the ones we lost like last night. We can’t fix or teach our team to cover slants, or we still bust coverage and don’t have the fundamentals to even tackle? This only suggest that the coaching is nowhere close to what is needed to be competitive. Heaven knows the Vol nation deserves better!

Schiano has a losing record as a college head coach. If losing is what the program wants to continue to do, we have that covered with Pruitt.

Are you kidding? A guy named H Lector is questioning my sanity. I didn’t say anything about salvaging Pruitt. I despise him and have since the day he was hired. It was the worst birthday present I ever got. I teared up when Fulmer announced him and it just keeps confirming my feelings about him.

What I did say is save himself and cool his seat off. If he makes the correct move this week and Bailey rolls. A great QB makes a coach look much better. Who was Dabo before Deshaun Watson. I’ll answer, just an average coach.
I could have sworn you said”But he has this 1 final opportunity to save himself.” And by the way it’s Dr H Lector.

Defense was actually really good.

Blew a coverage, but else kept them out of the end zone until well into the 4th quarter
There were drives they had 8 yards a carry. Nix is a notch above JG. We can’t stop a slant. The defense is not good.

I didn’t say the defense was good. I said the defense was pretty good in that game. And they were.

Now, yeah, part of it has to do with the fact that Auburn had a bad offense too.

But, I could live with what the defense game me except the blown coverage TD
