We're Behind You Lady Vols!

Greenville, S.C. -- #RV/NR Tennessee (20-9, 10-6 SEC) will open play on Thursday at approximately 8:30 p.m. ET in the second round of the 2020 SEC Tournament at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The Lady Vols, who tied for third in the league standings, were assigned the No. 6 seed based on the SEC's tie-breaker policy. They will meet No. 11 seed Missouri (9-21, 5-11 SEC), which defeated Ole Miss (7-23, 0-16 SEC), 64-53, in a first-round contest on Wednesday afternoon. Tennessee defeated Mizzou, 77-66, in Knoxville to open the SEC slate back on Jan. 2. The Lady Vols lead the all-time series vs. the Tigers, 10-3. UT comes into the tournament on a three-game winning streak, having defeated Vanderbilt and Ole Miss at home and Auburn on the road to secure the program's 43rd 20-victory season in the past 44 years. The 2018-19 squad finished 19-13 and came up a win short of keeping a lengthy streak intact. The winner of Thursday night's contest advances to the third round to meet No. 3 seed Kentucky at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

Even though this team has already bested last season in attitude and overall W-L record, they’ll catch hell on the Net if they don’t at least match the one SECT win that the 2018-19 team got.

I am heartbroken that work prevented me from making the trip to support the Lady Vols at the tournament this year, but a couple of wins sure would be good medicine. A Cinderella-story slot in the final would be, to me, after the last few years’ heartbreak, nearly as satisfying as some past deep runs into the NCAA Tourney.

Same song, different verse. Maybe THIS will be the game where we find consistency, flow and have a complete or near complete game. Or maybe we'll scratch, claw, overcome t.os and missed opportunities and gut out a win. Either way, survive and advance.

Definitely. I love the SEC tourney. Probably because of great family memories during the glory years when the tourney was at the Roundhouse in Chatt. Good times.

Go LADY VOLS! Let’s win this for PAT!

Well I hate to say this but, lets hope these girls win for the Lady Vols and themselves as a team. The win for "Pat" is beginning to sound like "win one for the Gipper". I, as do most UT/Tenn folks, hold Pat in a regard beyond words that can describe her. Thi teams now needs us to focus all our energy on them, but in the back of all Lady Vol minds "lies Pat". Lets now support these Ladies for who they are not for "Pat". I'm sure if "she" could tell us, with a smile she would say "help them shine the same way you did for me and my girls".

Missouri not very good at pressuring you. They can shoot the three have to run them off the line. Turnovers in this game will be all on us one time we have as much quickness as the opponent. Were a ten point favorite no reason to lose tonight.

Simple we have a 6-6 6-7 shot blocker in the post. So no need to cheat or double down.

You're right, it's never not for Pat, for what she built, etc. LOL she's kind of like God, she's universal around the program. Always a presence in the background. So to specifically win a game or tourney "for Pat" could have the feel of rolling one out for the Gipper. But hey, whatever motivates them I'm fine with.

A long time ago a middlin' Don Devoe men's team found a bone on the way to their first SEC tourney practice. They rallied around that random bone, would chant "The Bone, The Bone", had it on the bench during games. Corny sports movie come true, they made a Cinderella run to the finals.

Whatever it takes.

That's funny as hell. Oh well, let's win one for Dr.McCoy of Star Trek.

I can understand how Vols2015's mind drifted back to Pat, as the postseason was her favorite time of year, and often when the biggest Lady Vol miracles took place.

But yeah, I'm also hoping this team plays entirely for each other. If they just HAVE to pick one person to focus on, make it either Lou Brown or Kamera Harris. This is the final postseason for both of those women, and I sure am hoping they go out strong. New season starts TONIGHT! GO LADY VOLS!

Well, everyone except you know who.
Is the reason you know who is not playing because they might try to get her a redshirt? It doesn’t seem like she has played in very many games, especially since non-conference play.

It seems kinda obvious, no name has not looked dejected before, during, or after like she hoped to play. It is surely a big advantage for her to be a glass separated from Key. And year to work on fit, getting system, and college D is biggest curve for, that type of player. She has a great shot, watched her drain 6 in a row 2nd to last home game, catch and shot ones, from a ft inside 3 line, then 4 of 6 from otherside. Was very productive in pre season everytime she played. Maybe that was a big part of dicussion, if one was had, pointing out talent, and fight are there, Lets get you more ready to have a more productive 4 yrs. Shape, agility, that player has a good solid potential level to have solid, 20 mins maybe by next year, surely by Junior Yr. Hope if injury nothing needing surgery or it would have been done already

Even in the past couple of wins we have just been scraping by. We had that big ten point lead after three quarters and let them back in quickly with turnovers. We need some domination out of this team. Missouri biggest asset is shooting the three. The rest of their game isn't that impressive. We need to have a big game and some intensity in our play this is a big game for us.

I think they will come out strong, but have to eliminate the turnovers and guard the 3 ball, which has been a tough “gig” for them in some games. Hopefully, they will get a big lead and allow others to play and rest their legs. Just win and advance!
