GREENVILLE, S.C. - Mizzou Women's Basketball (9-21, 5-11 SEC) opened up the 2020 SEC Tournament with a 64-53 win over Ole Miss (7-23, 0-16 SEC) on Wednesday in Greenville, S.C. With the win, Mizzou has now won four of its last six games in the SEC Tournament dating back to the 2018 Tournament. Mizzou shot the ball incredibly efficiently in the game, as the Tigers made 50.0 percent of its shots from the field (23-of-46) and 45.0 percent of its shots from three (9-of-20). Mizzou improved to 4-0 on the season when shooting better than 50 percent from the field. Mizzou opened up the game in the third quarter, leading by as much as 25 with 1:19 remaining in the quarter following a layup from junior guard Elle Brown (Columbia, Mo.). Mizzou outscored Ole Miss, 25-13, coming out of the locker room, extending its lead from 10 points to 22 at 59-37 heading into the fourth quarter.
TOP TIGERS
- Freshman guard Aijha Blackwell (Berkeley, Mo.) led the team in scoring for the 14th time this season with 16 points, six points and three blocks.
- Senior guard Jordan Chavis (Lexington, N.C.) had 11 points and made three shots from beyond the three-point arc.
- Senior guard Jordan Roundtree (St. Louis, Mo.) led the team in rebounds and assists with eight and four, respectively, while scoring five points.
- The Tigers also shot very well from three, connecting on 45.0 percent from deep (9-of-20), its seventh time shooting better than 40 percent from deep this season, and the first since a road victory over Georgia on Feb. 6.
- Blackwell paced Mizzou in scoring for the 14th time this season with a team-high 16 points. It marked her 14th consecutive game scoring in double figures and 23rd overall this season.
- Chavis scored in double figures for the 10th time this season and the 23rd time in her career with 11 points
