OK, nice win this evening to make the team 4 and 0 on the season. The bats were really alive today, and even though Georgia Southern had several throwing errors in this game, Tennessee still would have won nine or ten to nothing even if you remove those throwing errors. But as it was Georgia Southern was no match either in the pitching Circle or at the plate for Tennessee.
Moss pitched well enough, but she wasn't dominant. Some of that was because of ponytail behind the plate. Her Strike Zone just moves around from Pitch to pitch to pitch. You never know what she's going to call the strike and what she's going to call the ball. Both teams had trouble with it. But Moss didn't seem to be able to change speeds very effectively today. Her off speed stuff wasn't working, and even though she found the plate well enough to get batters out she can do better. Towards the end of the game she appeared to be overthrowing. I can't imagine she was tired, but she was overthrowing quite badly. All and all Mosses velocity is tops, but she needs to work on Pitch location and Pitch variation.
Gregg is a Bonafide All-American, Geer can be too if she elevates her play just a bit. Chelsea Seggern at 3rd will be an All-American too before her career is over. She's the real deal. You don't have to worry about third for the next four seasons folks.
Leech and Vines have matured and are solid players now also. But the team still needs to find production in the bottom of the order. McClain has to be able to figure out how to hit the ball. The team needs a DP, Bearden was the DP for the first three games, today it was Lockman, then after the wholesale substitutions I lost track.
All in all it was a nice win in front of a big Georgia Southern Home crowd who came hoping to see their team take down the big girls from Tennessee. It didn't turn out that way for them, but it was nice to see a big crowd anyway. Everybody had a lot of fun, except maybe the Georgia Southern team.
