if Detroit is the armpit of America. wouldn't Gainsville be considered the armpit of the south?

IMO, there's nothing southern about Fl. I'm back here now but when I moved to Ga several years ago I literally felt like I was moving north to get back to the south.

hmm, really? because as far as I know the war was still going after that.

True... but word didn't travel quite as fast then as it does these days.

See generally the Battle of New Orleans, the War of 1812, and our beloved Volunteers.

No doubt, but old Joe new that Lee had surrendered by the time he was fighting in NC at Bentonville. And they kept fighting in TX long after Joe surrendered in NC. As my G-Pa used to say, “who said it’s over?” hehe.

Go Vols:good!:

There are a lot worse places in Florida than Gainseville. Venture down to South Florida. There's a reason "The First 48" films in Miami...

I know most won't believe this, but after living in G'ville and Knoxville, they aren't that different. They are both college towns surrounded by little towns like Walland, Rockford, Archer, Newberry etc. They have rabid fans and like to party. I spent 20 years on the beaches, 6 yrs abroad, and the last 13 here. I wanted G'ville without the humidity and I like the occasional snowfall. :wavey:

figuratively speaking if you were going to give the US an enima then you would have to stick it in Knoxville

I'm not sure what body part Gainesville would be, but it is a cesspool nonetheless.
