DHS adviser Tom Bossert says power in Florida could be out for weeks after Irma...

I think that's the biggest hurdle right now that will determine whether or not the game is played down there.

UF has it's own power grid.

Like last year, the biggest issues are the surrounding areas and all the logistics of Emergency Services, roadways, and hotels being available.

I imagine it will be in Gainesville, the conditions there are not nearly as bad there as the southern part of the state. Thankfully the storm wasn't nearly what it could have been. It was bad, but it could have been much much worse. Of course the logistics of the rest of the state could cause them too move it. I say it's 50-50. But it will be played, and the Vols are going to whip the gators and get the victory!!!!GBO!!!!!

My connection in Naples said only a few downed trees and shingles blown off but they didn't flood.

Good news!

Checking in from Gainesville.

Things have pretty much stabilized. House is good and most of my friends houses are good. A couple have taken tree hits, which sucks. Overall the town faired pretty well.

There is major flooding in some areas, here is some news feed from my neighborhood as an example. This has us trapped in, so not able to venture out and check downtown or the campus.

The special needs shelters seem to have held up very well and the UF Hospital staff did an amazing job, working some crazy long shifts.

Wind gusts at my house are around 20 mph, so pretty chill at this point. Lots of scattered rain and mild wind action. Half the county is out of power, but slowly and steadily coming back on line.

Spoke to a friend at one of the student shelters on campus and he said things went pretty smooth. Hadn't seen any major damage to the campus, but hasn't walked much of it yet.

Have family in Ft Myers and they got their rear handed to them, with plenty of damage. Everyone is alive and safe however.

Appreciate everyone's well wishes and prayers, as I am sure everyone here does. Stay safe out there! :)

Ohh and the next person to accuse someone of virtue signaling, or being a snow flake, or fake news, or social justice warrior, or some other ridiculous modern clown shoes garbage term; Do me a favor and punch yourself in the eye. For Pete sakes.

Paul Finebaum pointed out that, while the infrastructure may be intact, important components may not be available - police, first responders, medical, etc. - which is necessary for the influx of 100,000 fans.

Why wouldn't they be able to practice? They practice before school starts and they practice for bowls after classes are out.

Brian rice said they haven't practiced since Thursday and more than likely not today. According to UF media

Bingo. It's like people don't understand this. Or just think cause it's good in Gainesville means the game will be played. Doesn't work like that

Watch how fast Florida can recover. It's a wetland swamp. I know some areas got hit, but overall Florida is where you want to be if you get hit by a hurricane. I haven't checked on Jose, but if it circles around and crosses the Peninsula it will get bad though. All the damage will be tossed about if that happens.

They wouldn't have practiced this weekend if they'd played Saturday. All they missed was the game Sat. Very few teams practice on Monday. Sunday is usually just a stretch and conditioning day. Monday is usually completely off-day. Coaches have been focused on Tennessee for two weeks. Don't fall for those sad stories.

I can't imagine this game being delayed or moved. Power was out from Orange Park to Gainesville yesterday but we've got power in OP today, although everything is closed but we were pretty lucky over here.

Oh wow, looks like I'm the fortunate one, power is out all over and especially in Gainesville.

That graphic doesn't look too bad. I would have expected much more dark orange/red. Looks like less than 25%+ power outage.
