They aren't gonna cancel the game.It will get moved before that happens.

I saw some Live on-site reporting from Gainesville this morning and there did not seem to be any significant damage. The reporter said they might get some heavy bands of rain on the back side of the storm, but for the most part, Gainsville was spared.

The impact of the storm on the entire state Ian a drain on public resources and emergency services for the entire state. Getting people safely back to their homes and power restored is the priory. Not a football game.

My son and his family are in West Palm beach. They had 100 mph winds and have no power. He has a class A RV with a generator that will keep them going.

IMHO this comment nails it.

Even if BHG stadium and Gainesville are fine not sure if they can spare the 500 first responders required to stage a college football game. Those folks will be busy helping people who are displaced.

Game will be played Sat. but relocated. My guess is GT's Bobby Dodd stadium or perhaps GA State's stadium (old Turner Field) maybe.

Lack of AC is the big health concern from here on. There's a reason Florida was a largely unpopulated backwater until the 1950s: arrival of affordable AC and corresponding steady growth in population until Florida is today the 3rd most populous state in the nation (in 1950 it was #20, behind Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Alabama, and Kentucky, among others). AC makes the environment not only livable, but enjoyable.

Lots of old folks who are accustomed to its protection but without it now. Here's hoping they get the power back on quickly in most places.

I work for one of the power companies in the Tri-Cities and one of my co-workers said on his way to work this morning he passed some power company vehicles that were flying the Canadian flag. Thought that was kind of cool. We also have a group that just got home from Texas this past weekend. Odds are they will pack a fresh bag and head to Florida soon.

The Keys dialed it back for the mainland. It hit them as a Cat 4. Due to the bridges and power outages there is very little getting out of the lower keys where the impact was centered. I think when you see some of the pictures a few of my local friends have received from people who stayed behind, you will have a different opinion. The number of people that were impacted might be lower than Harvey and the expense of the might be less but the amount of devastation could be worse in the places that were actually hit by Irma. The highest elevation in the whole Keys chain is 18 ft and the storm surge was estimated to hit 10-15ft. which means almost everything was covered in water. US 1 is the main road through the Keys and on most islands the highest elevation. There are photos of boats parked on US - 1...

I can't imagine this game being delayed or moved. Power was out from Orange Park to Gainesville yesterday but we've got power in OP today, although everything is closed but we were pretty lucky over here.

Oh wow, looks like I'm the fortunate one, power is out all over and especially in Gainesville.

I passed a convoy of approximately 30-40 power company trucks in Beaumont, TX yesterday, headed East. I don't know it they were headed home, from Harvey, or if they were headed to Florida for Irma. Traffic was hairy so I couldn't see the logos.

"Now that the storm has passed through Gainesville, the University of Florida is working with local authorities to assess the effect of the storm on the campus and the Gainesville community, at the same time ensuring the appropriate security and local officials are available to host a game," Sankey said in the statement.

The Texans moved to Dallas and used Jerry World.
The Astro's games were postponed.

There are several high schools that are sharing class space with other schools. The schools won't be fixed for 1 to 1-1/2 years estimated.

The high school football schedules are all messed up.

The BYU vs Lsu got moved and so did the Texans preseason game
