Entire team was untalented, poorly rated All-americans. Rumor is on the street that many of them paid for their 5 star rankings. In other news. They were fake talents. SO it does not surprise me at all that the entire team is saying the UTAD's version of events is a lie. In fact, can we trust anything they say. I SAY NO.

She was pretty successful coach before this total debacle. I just don't see it all being her fault. Now like I've said I'm not a fan of the subbing patterns or full court trapping the whole game. But no way this total loss of control was all her doing. I've seen something similar to this happen to a close friend I seen players being disrespectful from earlier in the season. Kim whiffed on getting control and here we are.

One of us is wrong. I'm with you on most things but I'm not begrudgen DW although I think he hired her before she was proven at this level. That's just his style I believe he will fix it in due time. I think the only reason he's giving her another year is because of the sabotage. Don't think she has much of a chance to have a very good team next year with all new players that have never played together. This team was a bad shooting team from all aspects of the game.

Most of us are probably wrong on many things with this. This forum just gives us a safe place to voice those opinions. I don’t think any of us want anything other than this program to be back in a good place. The fact we are all so passionate about it shows the brand and program still matters. That’s a good thing.

Yeah I'm too orange. I watch all things VOLS , I'll be watching the Basevols and Softvols always with 2 TV's and my phone when we have 3 games going. I've always liked women's basketball because I have so many relatives that's played at all levels except the W . That goes back to the redheads that your probably not old enough to know.

Right now I can only look at one person to blame. My mind is telling me she did something so egregious that she couldn't come back from it. Not one player is staying with this coach!!

The thing is, they got their high school 5-star ratings because, at that time, they *could* shoot. Something appears to have happened after they got to Knoxville to cause our players' shooting to become less reliable. I'm sure everyone can think of a few reasons something like that might happen.

I think being a good shooter at the college level vs being able to score at the high school level are very different things. Not to say that our offense couldn't be (a lot) better designed to get players easier baskets.

Them loving him so much would explain why they would side with him even if he really did do the University of Tennessee and Coach Kim Caldwell dirty. It only slightly moves the needle in the direction of "Gabe is innocent", not completely narrative-dissolving as is being presented.

To put it another way, he probably couldn't have accomplished what he's accused of unless the players respected him to this level, so this response might be what you'd see if he was innocent or guilty, just for different reasons. [defending his genuine honor vs. them siding with him in the locker room schism]

How much do players who graduated last year add to the discourse, anyhow? The meltdown was this year, not last year. If Gabe had any role with our issues, it wouldn't be a surprise that it was something that happened this year only, and not last year.

I am going to put here 2 scenarios about a family with multiple kids:

1. the mom is the one that sets the rule. the children complain to the father that they don't like the rule... the father says its ok. Mom doesn't know what she is doing don't worry i will take care of it. the kids like the father;s response and will always be supporting of him. Although the Dad's intention may not be be to undermine Mom but the tact used inevitably leads to undermining. I am not sure if any of this existed or not but the truth may be somewhere in between.

2. The mom is the one that sets the rule. the children complain to the father that they don't like the rule... the father says instead explains why the rules are import in a friendly way and he and Mom agree on what she is doing is right. The kids may not like the father's response but will slowly understand that they cannot divide Mom and Dad and will then then comply. I am certain this was the scenario in Pat era where mickey and holly were the friends of players but never undermined Pat that was very evident in the documentary

Interesting speculation. While it’s plausible, it’s far from convincing.
If this were a courtroom—and a fan board has much looser rules of evidence—you would have done the accused a great favor by demonstrating that, “maybe he did it, and maybe he didn’t do it. It all depends on whether you, Ladies and Gents of the jury, believe the witnesses were truthful or were committing perjury.”

Many on here are going to believe based on what they want to believe. Folks want a reason why for all this and there are some that need it to not be because of the head coach.

He was hired right away - so folks outside of the UT program have no issues with him.

Not so much of this is about love nor loyalty. For the most part, it seems like all the former players and the assistant coach bet on themselves to abandon the program in hopes of getting Coach Caldwell fired and loss. The one flip mouth parent on social media all but exposed the plan from the start of the season to the finish. Now he’s as quiet as he’s ever been because that phone ain’t ringing like he thought it would be.
I have no doubt in my mind if CKC had been fired that Lazo would’ve never went to LSU or UCF. He would’ve been pushing to get retained at Tennessee as an assistant or the head coach position.
UCF is not a good basketball program and there’s nothing Lazo can do there to make it a contender. He’s a recruiting coordinator in his first season as a head coach at a Power 4 school.
As for the players, none will get signed to a program with a brand anywhere near Tennessee. The one that has already signed went to Virgina Tech. Then since one of Virginia Tech best players have entered the portal.
I think someone gave these players bad advice and they ran with it. You’ll see them at schools like Rutgers, Ole Miss, Missouri, etc.

Please stop with the conspiracy theories - they are not helping CKC at all. You may think they are, but they are not.

It is going to be extremely difficult for her to obtain any top players from the portal as it is.

You nor this forum has any impact on Coach Caldwell and how she is perceived as a basketball coach. Nor does random comments from players that left the team which will be forgotten by the end of this week.
Also, you nor this forum will have no impact on the players (top) or equivalent to the former ones that joins Tennessee out of the portal.
Posting it everytime you see a post you disagree with is a waste of your time.

Do you really believe these players and their parents don't talk to other players and parents?

Do you really believe that players who are being recruited to come here are not asking questions around what the heck is going on? I mean we just had what may be a generational player ask for a release.

If they do, would they not have talked to them when/while they were signed to Tennessee? Is it the coach fault they couldn’t make fundamental basketball plays?
Your argument is by far one of the more simplistic angles I’ve seen as far as how sports actually work. Several women and men college basketball coaches/programs have added 10 or more players via the portal to a roster. I’m sure those teams had players and parents that knew players and parents from those teams too.
I watched the McDAAG there’s nothing generational about a single player in that class. And again, that same player canceled visits to other schools to come here. Those same players and parents aren’t all of a sudden going to say come here and join us. The only people that do that stuff are fans.
All of this stuff comes down to one thing and one thing only.. what’s in it for me? That’s what will be the deciding factor for players in the transfer portal.
Just move on from this and stop focusing on my opinion if all you can do is repeat the same thought constantly. You ain’t changing my mind and I’m not changing yours.
