I’m not buying that the sudden philosophy change is being presented to us accurately and with full context.

They seemed to be approaching everything in the usual way up until a certain point.
Idk, I dont like the philosophy change to a certain degree, like what if we arent willing to bid for players in the portal and they go elsewhere and we are stuck just taking the scraps? That’s not a recipe for success

That’s a recipe to get fired.

I get that it’s easy to spend other people’s money, but the coaching staff, the team, the fans, the admin, nobody benefits from nickel and diming in the long run.

It doesn’t mean we have lost ground. He is just playing the field for money and as much as I want him to commit to us today, I can’t blame him.

What did I miss? What shift?
No bidding wars this early is basically what it boils down to.

AP said no bidding wars for non-immediate impact guys but if you approached it like that I believe you’d have a class of 6. That’s why I said his characterization didn’t ring true to me.

At corner. I’m talking about safety. Tank McCullough is the only one I can think of.
Staff did not invest at all previously at DB, especially safety. I would not be worried about the lack of commits in May when the first couple OVs just happened. They paid for three of the top safety options in the portal, so clearly they will invest if they believe in the player enough. They also got quality depth, which they will keep doing. Jowell Combay from Kell last class was a good get tho

This is what I‘m looking for a change in. Portal spending is great but they are all one and dones with eligibility except Lane who I think might play well enough to get drafted.

I also like Combay and I’m excited to see how Knowles uses guys like Wyatt. Still think we should pony up for Poole— I think he‘s very good.

I hope so as well. Tennessee is definitely still in the mix for Poole and Omarii Sanders at safety. (Omarii should become a LB but is deadset on playing safety)

EDIT: Will say I would rather pay a top corner over a top safety nearly every time tho

Agree but it’s a balance and one we didn’t always handle well under Banks.
