Spend a few minutes talking with safety Ta’Shawn Poole or those close to him and one theme consistently surfaces — Tennessee.
When the conversation shifts to which program is recruiting him the hardest, it is Tennessee. When asked which school he feels strongest about, it is Tennessee again. Since late 2025, the Vols have steadily built momentum, and heading into the spring, they have separated themselves from the pack.
The staff’s consistency, communication and long-term vision for Poole in the secondary have resonated. Tennessee has not only positioned itself at the top — it has created real distance.

Ta’Shawn Poole had a big grin on his face when asked where the Vols stand in his recruitment. And his answer was clear: “Number one.”
The reason? Well, this was also clear—Anthony Poindexter. He says the Tennessee assistant coach has made him a priority and has for months. He also says he is very high on how he could fit into Tennessee’s secondary.
Clemson and Georgia are two other programs heavily involved here.
Poole will visit again this spring, and then he has a June OV scheduled as well.

Back on campus today for the scrimmage…

Poole told Volquest in the winter that Tennessee was the school in the driver’s seat of his recruitment. He has now taken visits to schools, such as Clemson, LSU, and Alabama, this spring, so where do the Vols stand?

“They are still on top,” Poole said.

Poole has locked in an official visit date to Knoxville for June. He continues to weigh out when he will make a decision, as he has now seen the majority of his contenders this spring.

Tennessee hosted elite safety Ta’Shawn Poole on Thursday and the Vols continue to impress here. He told us, “they are still on top.” He has continued to feel like a priority to the Vols. LSU made a nice impression during his visit to Baton Rouge and appears to be the Vols’ biggest competition at this point.

We continue to monitor his timeline as the possibility of coming off the board prior to official visits appears to be real.

Anthony Poindexter had an in-person visit with Elite Safety Ta’Shawn Poole. The priority prospect told us the visit went well and he is looking forward to being back in town the weekend of June 5 for his official visit. Florida State has continued to try to make a push in this recruitment, but the Vols have continued to do nice work coming out of the spring.

Recruiting has been dreadful. Lots of time left and we’ll be fine, but no way to sugar coat it right now
I’m not buying that the sudden philosophy change is being presented to us accurately and with full context.

They seemed to be approaching everything in the usual way up until a certain point.
