I would too.......My guess is that he's been offered something at WV and wants to see if he can at least match that elsewhere before decommitting. Just a guess though.
I know all of this is new and everyone is trying to navigate their way through this as everybody learns. But looking at it from a kids POV ...if the university can't arrange an NIL (although we know they are/ will) how is a kid to figure it out. He’s inquiring about a business deal where he would promote a business in exchange for money. That’s how these work. He’s not just asking for money for nothing in return like a politician.
That isn't really the point. The point is that your reasoning is flawed because it is based entirely on a system that has proven itself to be faulty time and again, but you are lending an incredible amount of credence to it.Got it. So you're saying that you would overpay for Apple stock today because it's certainly possible it might be worth more in the future.
Well... it has its faults, but who are the best teams right now? Care to look at their recruiting classes? I’m not saying I’m against NIL... but the recruiting rankings aren’t uselessThat isn't really the point. IMO what he is trying to say, but went about it the wrong way because I don't think he really understands the underlying emotion behind it, is he hates the purely mercenary nature of this crap....I get it because I do too.Lol so because he’s not highly rated then he shouldn’t try to monetize his talent? How do you know what he expects?
What are you even saying right now?
Nailed itRecruiting services say average talent. That should not deter one from knowing their own worth. That being said.....One problem with NIL is how many kids with actually strive to reach their full potential if handed money based on what services say they might be? One of the things I've always loved most about college football is that it wasn't a business for the players (At least not until draft eligible) . I don't completely disagree with NIL, but I feel players should have to prove their value at every level.
I just thought of something... if a fan or booster decided to send a recruit some Bitcoin or other crypto, how would the NCAA find out? There’s no way they could access a players crypto wallet without his digital key.
I didn't call them useless. I just think it's a fool's errand to look at a subjectively generated list of names and try to attach value to any of them before they have played their first down of meaningful football.Well... it has its faults, but who are the best teams right now? Sorry to any offended, but I really hate this. Jmo... but the number 369 player in the nation should be grateful for offers from some top programs to potentially display and grow his talents (as well as getting a free education), and not making it apparent that he's open to the highest bidder. I just think it sends the wrong message to any team that's thinking of making him an offer... if he doesn't play year one then likely hits the portal by year two.
I dont like it at all. NIL is a can that has been opened that we will not like eventually. Toothpaste is out the tube.
