'22 GA RB Justin Williams (Cal)

My guess is that he's been offered something at WV and wants to see if he can at least match that elsewhere before decommitting. Just a guess though.
I would too.......

Golf club companies are already getting 13-14 yr old kids on their “Staff.”
This NIL thing is going to trickle down to HS very soon

He’s inquiring about a business deal where he would promote a business in exchange for money. That’s how these work. He’s not just asking for money for nothing in return like a politician.
I know all of this is new and everyone is trying to navigate their way through this as everybody learns. But looking at it from a kids POV ...if the university can't arrange an NIL (although we know they are/ will) how is a kid to figure it out.

I think the NIL's should be earned by their on field results. This would add additional insintive to work hard and get more playing time.

I realize this is a nieve way of looking at it.

The same ones that had Justin Jefferson as the 2164th best player? Or Patrick Willis as the 783rd best player? Or Lamar Jackson as the 409th best player?
Got it. So you're saying that you would overpay for Apple stock today because it's certainly possible it might be worth more in the future.

That isn't really the point. The point is that your reasoning is flawed because it is based entirely on a system that has proven itself to be faulty time and again, but you are lending an incredible amount of credence to it.

I just thought of something... if a fan or booster decided to send a recruit some Bitcoin or other crypto, how would the NCAA find out? There’s no way they could access a players crypto wallet without his digital key.

Well... it has its faults, but who are the best teams right now? Care to look at their recruiting classes? I’m not saying I’m against NIL... but the recruiting rankings aren’t useless

Lol so because he’s not highly rated then he shouldn’t try to monetize his talent? How do you know what he expects?

What are you even saying right now?
IMO what he is trying to say, but went about it the wrong way because I don't think he really understands the underlying emotion behind it, is he hates the purely mercenary nature of this crap....I get it because I do too.

I have no problem with guys making a living off of their talent...I just think when it devolves to just being about the money it ruins the nature of team competition.

Recruiting services say average talent. That should not deter one from knowing their own worth. That being said.....One problem with NIL is how many kids with actually strive to reach their full potential if handed money based on what services say they might be? One of the things I've always loved most about college football is that it wasn't a business for the players (At least not until draft eligible) . I don't completely disagree with NIL, but I feel players should have to prove their value at every level.
Nailed it

I'd be surprised if this is not happening. Add a TOR browser to the equation, there is no Interne trace that could potentially be used if there is an investigation at the player level.

I didn't call them useless. I just think it's a fool's errand to look at a subjectively generated list of names and try to attach value to any of them before they have played their first down of meaningful football.

What kind of ROI would that have netted the person/company who handed Khalil McKenzie a six-figure NIL deal as a high school senior?

Sorry to any offended, but I really hate this. Jmo... but the number 369 player in the nation should be grateful for offers from some top programs to potentially display and grow his talents (as well as getting a free education), and not making it apparent that he's open to the highest bidder. I just think it sends the wrong message to any team that's thinking of making him an offer... if he doesn't play year one then likely hits the portal by year two.

The market will determine who receives NIL deals and who does not. Very few HS prospects, relatively speaking, receive deals of substance. If he proves himself at the collegiate level, NIL opportunities will likely be available. Work hard and good things will happen. I wish him much success.

I'll take it a bit further, when it devolves to JUST being about money, it pretty much ruins anything and everything..

I dont like it at all. NIL is a can that has been opened that we will not like eventually. Toothpaste is out the tube.

It will definitely be different, but ultimately I'm fine with money being shifted towards the players.

We had an environment where Pruitt demanded and received an extension after going 13-12. I think I'm okay with some of the money driving that absurd coaching salary market being reallocated.

And at the end of the day, it's always been pay to win.

Supposedly this is what Oregon is doing now to get recruits. Instead of dropping bags they’re dropping thumb drives.
