'22 GA QB Sam Horn (Mizzou commit)

“I didn’t really know much about Coach Heupel until he kind of introduced himself to me. I didn’t really expect anything because of the old coaching staff, so I didn’t want to get my hopes up. And then they called and they wanted me on the Zoom. And then, right after the Zoom, they called me and I was like, ‘At this point, I can tell that they’re really interested,’ so I took it a lot more serious after that.”

This quote feels like Horn's been disappointed in the lack of attention he was getting from Pruitt and staff.

“I think they realize that I’ve been a huge Tennessee fan my whole life,” Horn said. “They realize that. And it’s also, they want to make a relationship. I already have one, I guess you could say — not a fake relationship. But they definitely still want to make one, even though I probably know Knoxville better than they do. They still want to have a good relationship.

Horn said he has gone to games at Tennessee about “once a year” in recent years “because we have season tickets, so I’ve been there as much as possible, especially when I was younger. But it’s been a little bit slower lately, just because of trying to watch other schools and everything.”

He admitted being a longtime Tennessee fan would make it difficult for him to turn down the opportunity to play for the Vols. But he’s keeping an open mind.
Horn said he wants “to start narrowing things down” soon and working toward a decision. He’s planning to pick a school by this spring.

“Definitely, with the dead period and everything, that does not help,” he said. “But I think in the next month or two, month and a half, I want to try to make a decision. Now I have to commit sooner or later, because everybody else is committing. I mean, I hate that. But, at the same time, it’s the domino effect, as everybody says, so it makes sense.”

First things first, if we can't land Horn, yes, I will be disappointed. However, it will be nowhere near the end of the world if we have to settle for someone else. Bailey and Salter both will be Freshmen next yr. Show improvement, get better, and go after Arch Manning with everything you have, and we will be just fine.
