“I think they realize that I’ve been a huge Tennessee fan my whole life,” Horn said. “They realize that. And it’s also, they want to make a relationship. I already have one, I guess you could say — not a fake relationship. But they definitely still want to make one, even though I probably know Knoxville better than they do. They still want to have a good relationship.
“I didn’t really know much about Coach Heupel until he kind of introduced himself to me. I didn’t really expect anything because of the old coaching staff, so I didn’t want to get my hopes up. And then they called and they wanted me on the Zoom. And then, right after the Zoom, they called me and I was like, ‘At this point, I can tell that they’re really interested,’ so I took it a lot more serious after that.”
Horn said he has gone to games at Tennessee about “once a year” in recent years “because we have season tickets, so I’ve been there as much as possible, especially when I was younger. But it’s been a little bit slower lately, just because of trying to watch other schools and everything.”
He admitted being a longtime Tennessee fan would make it difficult for him to turn down the opportunity to play for the Vols. But he’s keeping an open mind.
