'20 GA OL Tate Ratledge (UGA commit)

This thread is kind of hilarious lol. To everyone who is mad at recruiting right now: we aren't an elite program anymore to anyone outside of Tennessee. These kids grew up watching Dooley and Butch coach this program to Vanderbilt-level heights. They've never seen even a 10 win season. We're no better than a mid-level power 5 program at best to these kids, and we're coming off a 5 win season. I know we all remember the good ole days, but nobody sees us as a blue blood anymore. Doesn't matter how good our staff is at recruiting if we're recruiting against Bama and Georgia. To these kids we're on the same level as UK and Vandy. Pruitt needs to win on the field with the guys he has before we are seen as a legit program again. We are not a sleeping giant -- we are at rock bottom. Be patient FFS. I think this staff can do it, we just need to give them 2-3 years to develop kids into SEC level players and put some kids into the NFL.

Tennessee is top 10 annually in recruiting expenses. They've sunk a ton of money into the facilities to the point that most consider UT to have top 5 facilities. Tennessee is within the top 5 in assistant coach salary expenses. It's time to start earning it.

It is hilarious. By reading some posts in here, one would think that we having been winning double digit games for the past 10 years. People dont want to hear it but its May. Yes I get the ESD but it is still very early. People need to calm down. Your last sentence is too much logic for this thread.

You ever see a fat, bald guy driving a lambo? Just because he's driving a sexy car doesn't mean he's gonna pull a$$ with it.

Don't disagree. Think they did a pretty good job across the board all things considered. The only thing that truly upset me was the Vanderbilt game.

Agree. I remember what Phillips and Tuttle said about the team. They had eluded to players not fully buying in. I believe by the end of the season that was on full display. I also believe losing Trey really hurt us. Those arent excuses but I believe they were big reasons.

A lot of truth in here despite my feelings on some of your other posts. You have to understand that other programs have a lot to sell as well and have longer relationships in recruiting with these kids and have put better products on the field lately.

You can at least see that Tennessee has a lot to sale kids on and that they have the top recruiters to make those pitches to kids. The difference in between us and top ten classes honestly is just proving we’re headed in the right direction on the field.

I’ve got my reasons for thinking Pruitt is different from Dooley and butch but I can acknowledge not a lot has been proven at this point. I would simply say that some coaches with better football minds than us believe in this guy; Chaney for example left a better program that was offering him a raise in salary for the same position on pruitt’s staff. I think there are some reasons for optimism but we should know more after this season.

I do believe there's a lot of truth to that. Really it comes down to this in my opinion. You can't bring in Tee Martin, Derrick Ansley, and Jim Chaney and come out this flat in recruiting. Obviously new recruits will probably enter the fold. But a lot of Tennessee's truly elite top targets are about to be off the board already. That's concerning. Mitchell Mayes, Rakim Jarrett, Tate Ratledge, Justin Rogers, Myles Murphy. There's a handful of 5 stars that will be left on Tennessee's board in Reggie Grimes, Arik Gilbert, and Darnell Washington. But let's be honest, Tennessee probably doesn't lead for any of those three. Tennessee almost has to clean up with the highly ranked instate guys to really have a successful class. It feels imperative at this point. Just my perspective. Everybody can go ahead and continue grilling me now.

Always thought that a main factor determining Pruitt's success will be his ability to identify and develop under recruited three stars. Obviously we need to hit on some major talents, and we have. But we need a lot of hits in our classes, unlike the Butch years.

Love when fans give the staff an ultimatum...like...."It better get better!"...or what? You gonna go up to campus and show that staff a thing or two?

Lmao....just shut up and don't quit your day job.
