I keep seeing references to AV even in this thread. You cats do realize he cosigned the complete BS, the largest troll job I've ever seen on VN, in the Gruden thread by MIT Beaver, right??? Why you give that cat 1% credibility on anything is beyond me to understand, but hey, it's still a free country, go for it if so inclined.

I'm going to be careful how I say this:
Nothing in me misses Butch Jones. I despise the man to this day.
But over and over we're hearing the "you can't go 5-7 and expect to recruit well" excuse.
In 2013, we went 5-7, losing to Vandy and Mizzou down the stretch, while beating Kentucky.
A few months later, we had the #5 recruiting class in the country.
It can be done. I also recognize a lot of those high profile recruits in 2014 didn't pan out.
And Butch should be flogged for the development of those players.
But it can be done. I have very high expectation for this staff of recruiters.
Gonna have to finish strong with guys like Gray, Crouch and Wright.

it was done by selling snake oil. I would 100% pick this route, every time. when you tell the truth, it takes more time, but yields better results.

I’m sure everyone is relieved to have your permission to use their own judgement.

There's the 2 secrets that probably both indicated to the coaches that they would sing with UT. What is a coach supposed to do if a kid tells him the night before he is coming and then signs with someone else the next morning?

Nick Saban. Urban Meyer. Kirby Smart. Are these the kind of guys who "tell the truth and yield better results" that you speak of?

Can you read? Chad Simmons and Bama 247. That's two sources.

And then yes, VQ said they were watching Eboigbe closely on the radio. They said this morning that TN was really swinging and had been for the last 48 hours. What do you want here? A rivals mod in Simmons said that TN had a legit chance. Bama 247 mods said that Bama was concerned about him flipping to TN. VQ confirmed that and said they were watching him. Then AV posted what he did.

What do you want me to say? Get over it dude.

That's better. I must have misread the post on the sources. I thought you implied Simmons reported it on Bama 247.

I just don't understand the doom and gloom you've posted everywhere in the RF. Just because we swing for the fences on a recruit late in the cycle and miss does not mean ESD is a disappointment. I expect our coaches to swing for the best players in the country. They get paid handsomely to do so. However, if you look at the commitment, the visits, compare the two teams in consideration, etc. it never clicked that UT had a serious chance. Maybe Ebiogbe will come out in the next day or two recapping his recruitment in which he'll state UT was close. Who knows?

Maybe you haven't followed recruiting that long, I don't know. It all just seems a little naive. Believing everything VQ or AV post is evidence of that. When VQ says they are watching something or that they are hearing something does not justify leaping to a conclusion that whatever it is being discussed is now a formality. I don't think I'm the only one who shares this same opinion.

Just trying to call it how I see it. Not trying to attack you specifically because there are definitely others that have similar tendencies. Lol I guess this was just a poor attempt to help someone else evaluate recruiting as a whole a little better with the hope that the RF is a happier and easier place to be.

I'm of the opinion that Butch's classes, for the most part, were vastly overrated by recruiting analysts, and it's a large part of why this program is in the crapper. So yes, we could have signed Trey Knox and other higher-rated instate recruits to simply increase our arbitrary star rating this year, but is it more important to win the press conference on signing day, or win games on the field?

Kids like Morris, Wright, Egboigbe, and Pappoe are the type of players we need to be signing to change this program--not the over-rated in-state kids that, despite their ratings, aren't pursued by the top programs. We've already signed one of those four, and have a great chance with Wright. That's pretty damn impressive for a 5-7 team. But it's going to take more wins to get a larger percentage of the "program changers" that we've been striking out on.

What doom and gloom? Saying this is disappointing is not doom and gloom. I’m very happy with our signing class. Hoping we close with Wright and Crouch. But when there are reports that we could possibly flip Anderson and Eboigbe, I’m not going to apologize for hoping it happens

thats an easy excuse. #1 recruiting budget in all the land, great stadium, facilities, tradition.

dont feed me that ****. it very well may be a tough sell, it is what it is. Pruitt did a nice job but dont try to slide **** down my throat with more ****.

like ive said, if anyone cares...we have a team of great recruiters. we shouldnt expect to get Egboibe, it was too late on the RB. But my goodness, an instate kid to a rival?

that stings, at a position of need notnetheless. Feb better be a strong close cause the Gators and Bulldogs are loading up.

Pruitt is on year two.....

It's like this everywhere, no matter the state of the program. I've been refreshing and reading Bama247 all morning checking for JE news and they have just as many whiny babies over there as we do here. Yet, Bama has been on top of the CFB world for a decade and will sign a top 3 class, again. But as soon as something changes, and they lose a kid or two, fans lose their minds!

It's even worse on Clemson boards. Those guys whiffed on RB's, OL and now losing Crouch to UT. It's like a war zone on their boards.

Unlike Clemson and Alabama, we actually (TN Fans) have a legitimate reason to be concerned. With regard to elite players we target, we are losing most of those battles. We need to win those battles to climb back into relevance, and most of you guys know that.

The RF is home to us. You came and began educating Bass about his "recruiting eval" character. Bass is just fine, you just picked the wrong time to lecture. I know your intentions are good, but now isn't the time. 👍

What are you talking about? Lynx has been a regular of the recruiting forum for around a decade that I can remember. Just because he isn't always posting doesn't mean he isn't closely following
