G Jones Cut

Anyone that stood tall and strong like Jones did during those last three turbulent years he was here, gets full respect from me. I don't care at all about some insignificant comment that none of us were in the room to hear the context. We all say silly things that we wish we could have back.

He was a loyal, hard worker, full of optimism coaching change after coaching change. The only problem he suffered from was the excessive hype that one poster from his hometown brought to this board.
WTF? Are you serious? I hope to hades this is sarcasm.

Who cares anyway?! I mean how many great moments did he have anyway? Gerald Who..........:zeitung_lesen:

I don't give a damn how "noble" or "strong" he was during the coaching changes. He was playing college football at Tennessee while getting a free education. It's not like he was one of the Unknown Soldiers or something. He was a marginal receiver on some bad teams. He probably never left because he knew attrition would keep him on the field unlike at some other programs. He turned his back and "recruited" for Auburn, let him go stand tall and proud and get a job on their staff or hell maybe he can suit up for them considering they don't have to adhere to the rules anway. With that said.....GO VOLS

Wrong Again, His education was not free!!!!!!! He earn his education FOOL:loco:

Wow. After reading some of these posts in this thread and remembering the past bashing of GJ I just have to say that some of you are so pathetic. You take something he said about Troop and turn it into something else. What a bunch of losers bashing him for this. This has been going on for far too long and is embarrassing to real Tennessee fans. Pitiful and pathetic. Get a life.
Lol real fans

Trooper + Gerald Jones = stupidity that borders on dangerous. I feel for Gabe Wright, should be criminal to listen to those two imbeciles.

I dont know what really happened in the whole auburn thing but to say he was a marginal receiver is simply not true - he was an excellent possession receiver for us last year and was the main reason we finally started converting 3rd downs

I think he will get picked up - there are teams like the cowboys that are really thin at receiver and could use more competition for the 3rd-4th spot

Wow, after reading the first two pages on this thread, I get the feeling that people think G.J. was a mediocre receiver and a terrible human being. I seem to recall G.J. being a damn good receiver who saved us on many occasions. But maybe I didn't watch him as closely as I thought.

edit:

Also, will always remember the G-gun. Woo!

I suppose it's all about perspective. Folks on Volnation seem to have a pretty myopic viewpoint of the UT fanbase. Most assume if the same sentiment is echoed a handful of times, in one lone thread, that the fanbase as whole must feel the same way. I don't buy that. Your average UT fan that doesn't belong to VN probably wouldn't have a clue about the Jones/TT situation.

GJ had a good game against Pittsburgh and even flashed a :loco: after scoring one. The Eagles didn't have any room in the slot and he's not fast enough to be a threat on the outside. Hope he lands on his feet with another team.

I'm not sure everyone here knows that much about it, either.

Just going on the record that I am a GJ fan and will always wish him the best. Saves our ass on third down all year last year, but I always cheered and still do for Arian Foster.

Nobody's perfect.

He will to the consternation of his haters. Same haters can't admit that made public or not, Tennessee personnel and players have badmouth other schools to get a recruit on occasion, and it'll happen again. It's less what GJ did than the fact he got caught. Same thing with Bill Clinton's inability to keep his zipper closed. Other Presidents before him had that issue including Grover Cleveland, Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Einshower, John Kennedy and others. But Clinton got caught. So too with the directing of potential recruits elsewhere by what was apparently a disgruntled former player. He got caught doing what others have done before him. So let he who is without sin cast the first stone but you better duck if you do throw, the rock will surely boomerang.

I can agree with this. By no means do I hate GJ or wish bad on him, just lost a lot of respect for him.
