Fulmer's Quotes

If you honestly believe we were better off keeping Fulmer than moving on until we found a better fit (hopefully Dooley) then you are just too narrowminded to argue with.

uh oh. Here comes the "I'm a genius Vegas gambler" routine.

If you honestly think we will do better than Fulmer anytime in the next ten years, then it's you who is too narrow-minded to argue with. Let me know when we call a 10 win season a "joke" and a "disappointment" again.

all we have to do is win zero SEC titles and we match Fulmer's last 10 years. Heck, I could do that

I just don't understand some peoples' way of thinking. I mean sure Fulmer had some good 9 win seaons ,but look at Alabama. They said the hell with mediocracy and took the shot in the gut for a few years rebuilding what is now a national powerhouse.

The true sign of a Fulmer hater -- they would prefer to be 5-7 or 6-6 every year than 9-4 or 10-3 every year because any season without an SEC title is "just awful."

I have some sympathy for the FCF crowd.

However, it was incumbent upon the AD at the time to hire a WORTHY replacement, especially if you are going to fire our second greatest coach in the middle of a season, costing us a bowl bid.

Hambone = EPIC FAIL on attempt one. Now, I LIKE Dooley a lot, BUT he doesn't have a Saban-esque resume.

If you wanted to Fire Coach Fulmer, you better be damn sure you get it right the first time. And you had better be confident you will IMPROVE upon an SECCG every three years.

Right now, there is NO DOUBT we would be a stronger, deeper, and more competitive team now without the Hambone Experiment.

No, here comes the we-just-lost-by-35 to a team that has -never-had-a-top-10-recruiting-class routine.

fortunately, that looks light years ahead of losing to a Wyoming team that fired its coach. Thank goodness we're finished with that kind of sorriness.

When your only example of a bad home loss to a weak team is the week Fulmer had already been fired, then you know your argument is weak.

Does it make you feel better to go unranked all year?

maybe you preferred starting #3 and ending up without a bowl?

I've never said every year but we should win one every decade or so. You don't agree?

While I agree, I still have to bring up examples like FLorida and Alabama. It's not like they went from hero to hero. Florida had the Ron Zook era before they got Meyer to dominate and Alabama had that whole mess before landing a Nick Saban. Those two schools are doing alright for themselves.

exactly. Nine was the standard and that's why Fulmer got his raise based upon his new 8 win standard...oh, wait...he got fired for winning 5.

Would have won seven without the Hambone Experiment. Would have been huge for JC too. Could have won 9 - 10 last year. Pity.

We've been over the contract. Lubrication for the Machinations.

exactly. A team loaded with "all that NFL talent" that you routinely point out to support his recruiting prowess losing to Wyoming, which fired their coach for losing too much, is a poor argument.

Oh, and I don't recall that being the only embarrassing loss at that point, but maybe I'm just struggling with my memory. The pasting we put on SC previously was incredible.

If you can't see that the quarterback-less class is killing UT right now, there is nothing I can say to change your POV. Even with Boyd there would be a huge learning curve this year.

But given your Kiffin love, you can't come to terms with the fact it was he who made the decision to send two QBs packing and then failed to sign a starting-caliber QB for two consecutive seasons. By contrast, Fulmer signed QBs that started as frosh not once, not twice, but three different times in his tenure.

silliness, hypothetical fantasyland or otherwise, doesn't change that there is a record and that it is based upon the actual goings on. Fulmer was fired for cause. He wasn't retained because the people who hire and fire our coaches don't buy your hypothetical silliness and were concerned with the money being flushed in the toilet for keeping the guy around.

Kiffin dissed us and it hurts more, but that doesn't mean it's OK to keep going on a clear route down the crapper.

Here is a hypothetical that anyone can run in their mind. There is a HC position open at a school, and there are 3 choices to choose from, you tell me the order they get hired. Hint: 2 of these 3 people have actually been hired for positions in the last 3 years, 1 hasn't.

We don't have their in-state talent. Tell me how Notre Dame & Nebraska have done this decade -- just like us, tradition-rich, fan-rich, resource-rich, and in-state-talent-deficient. And they don't have to play in the SEC each year.
