Fulmer's Quotes

Well all you Fulmer haters got us here. I know you will never take blame for your hate that cost us our reputation as a football school, but you are to blame. Not Phil, not kiffen, not Hamilton, not Dooley, Just you haters with no appreciation for what we had. Stupid bunch of hating jerks.

Obviously, you're Phil's relative because only an idiot or a relative would defend him.:realmad: We can add you to the list if you like.

Top ten every year? Seriously, what bizarre world are you Fulmer fans living in? The last few years we were finishing on the fringe of the top 25.

All coaches have up/down years,...his whole tenure is based upon the last few years? Brilliant.

A HC doesn't do everything, so Cut had alot to do w/his success. But that is what a HC does,....recruit Asst. Coaches. If Phil was such a great recruiter of players,...don't ya think he did the same with the men that he hired & fired?

Proud to be a VOL.

Get off fulmer's ass damn! don't get me wrong it was time for him to go. but i do have to say one thing i am a majors hater!

It's like he thinks we're idiots and have no idea what his last 6 years here were like. He states at one point that during his tenure, if he mentioned 9 wins it would be like a terror act, but now we are praying for 6 and a bowl. I remember a few seasons under him we prayed for 6, and we started in the top 10.

+ 1 million. I wasn't going to say anything cause I know there's still hardcore Fulmer supporters on here ready to battle, but d*** he has lost his mind. I couldn't believe it when I read it last night. Geez!

According to some in another thread, if you don't like Fulmer you're immature and lacking IQ... Might as well give up on your negative opinions antifulmer people. We are just dumb kids.

My 2 cents...

In retrospect Fulmer should have been fired sooner than 2008.

Fulmer got one 'heck' of a golden parachute and should be grateful versus bitter. He's bitter because he's delusional and egotistical and can't get over himself.

He was a decent coach, not great, who took one talented team to the title but could not sustain it with unbelievable talent.

The slide down from the top was remarkably fast.

He didn't deserve to break the General's record.

Another 2 cents...

Anyone have Fulmers record against other national championship winning coaches? My issue with his tenure as coach (the whole thing) was that he did remarkably well against Ray Goff or whoever, but abysmal against the Spurriers of the world. He was an Elite Head Coach....but the worst of that class.

While Fulmer was obviously a good coach, I would not consider him 'elite', even the bottom of the elite class. He did not build a program from the ground up, he inherited a great program that Johnny had built from the ashes of Battle's tenure; he's not inovative; he's not a great manager of his staff and the program; he was a very good recruiter, but even that fell off the last several years.

He was fortunate to inherit a solid program at the right time when the conference powers were down and took advantage of that. He wasn't up to the task when the level of competitioin increased markedly after '98.

If Fulmer could have sustained his success a few more years, won a few more SECC and been at least in the hunt for another NC or two he would have been elite.

Glad Fulmers gone, I use to think that he was prolly a pretty good guy, but the more he opens his yapper, the more i dislike the guy.

This was my scale back in 2006 for Fulmer:

Love of school Love of self

|-------X----------------------------------|

This is that same slider now:

Love of school Love of self

|--------------------------------------X---|

The man is an egomaniac that doesn't realize that, after winning the NCG, we are completely insignificant as a program due directly to him.

Hey, you're the genius that said we were in or near the top ten every year. You seem to have an extremely selective memory. Truth is, if your ignorance will allow you to see it, is that we finish out of the top 25 more often than we finished in the top ten.

Yeah, I know I'd feel awful with those 6 years -- when we won the SEC east twice, 9 or more games 4 times, were ranked at some point in the season every single year, and had at least 1 upset over someone else every year. What awful, awful days those last six years were.

We would be in the exact same boat we're in right now with Boyd. We would be bringing a young QB along. I like Tyler Bray's arm better than both you mentioned.

Yeah, but as we have seen before, it's his head that needs to come along.

According to LWS, not so much right now.

You summed it up exactly well. And because we have an AD with the same IQ level, we now have NCAA inquiry into all 3 sports, or basketball program will be back on the rocks with recruiting/NCAA issues & our football program is back to Majors' early-year awfulness. You're about to find out what bad really looks like, and it ain't losing in the SEC title game, kiddo.

are we going to go another 10 years without a title of any kind? I've made it thru that before

If you can't see that the quarterback-less class is killing UT right now, there is nothing I can say to change your POV. Even with Boyd there would be a huge learning curve this year.

There was a huge learning curve with Erik Ainge, but that first season worked out fine. Hell there was a learning curve for Tee Martin in 1998!

BJ Coleman wouldn't have needed a learning curve. From what I understand, Cut had faith in him. That should be more than enough for any Vol fan.

The other flip side is why didn't Kiffin get Cam Newton? Troublemaking can't be the reason, as we've seen.

To blame this on Fulmer when two of his recruits have transferred to starting positions (admittedly in FCS), and one is an injury away from starting as a freshman in the ACC is ludicrous. At least two of those three are probably upgrades over the present right now.

JMHO.

Does it make you feel better to lose against non-title winning coaches now?

Majors' Record vs. National Title Winning Coaches: 2-11
Fulmer's Record vs. National Title Winning Coaches: 18-24

This ^ cubed.

The haters wanted to open Pandora's Box. They do need to hold their hands up and accept they got it wrong.

Meanwhile, it is tough not to like Dooley. GBO!

not enough for this one. He also said JC was pretty much worthless and we saw that wasn't true

because, as has been stated many times before, he couldn't understand the plays when they asked him.

more made up crap. Fantastic.

Why don't we have Aikman. Has eligibility left and petitioned for amateur status back. I heard from other posters that the NCAA granted it, but Kiffin turned him down.

Kiffin also told Barkley not to transfer because he knew he would be leaving. He also turned down Locker because he didn't want to dick his old staff mate. Told Luck to stick with the Pac 10 because SEC sucks.

Anyone else?

haters did what? You implying that Haslam canned Fulmer because we think the guy sucked. Then you don't know jack about the man.
