Fulmer talking to Miles

It’s not just record. It’s also the staff being built. Have Les with Tee as OC still leaves a glaring issue. Who coaches the quarterbacks?

Since Les got fired primarily due to QB recruiting and development issues, it’s very confusing that we would hire him with a first time OC who’s background is WR coaching and not QB’s.

You was just on the Les Miles train a few weeks ago?

Why all the sudden change your tune now?

Those are the same reasons I tried explaining to you on why Miles got fired from LSU.

You bashed Butch for refusing to change but completely ignored Les for basically doing the same thing.

C’mon man.

And thats all he would be here for. To make the program more attractive to the next coach. A stop gap.

We dont have a roster full if top talent. If Les was hired he would do good to win 6 next year.

We would do good with any coach winning 6 games next year. We have Auburn on our schedule next year as well as Ala. Fla. Ga. I don't know the rest of schedule. I want to see steady improvement. I think 6 to 7 wins next year would be a good year considering where our program is now, anything more than that would be great. Our Offensive line, qb, in bad need of lots of improvement. As well as the defense.

Was on Les train without Tee as OC.

Second, no one argued why Les got fired.

Third, Butch’s system wasn’t good enough to win ugly. Atleast Les could take his ugly offense to 8-9 wins minimum.

Remember, Butch’s ceiling is almost as good as Les’ floor.

I’m not changing my tune.

Hire a QB coach.

Both Butch & Miles are stubborn coaches who thinks their one dimensional offensive philosophy is flawless.

That’s why both of them are currently unemployed because they didn’t want to make necessary changes to save their job.

So yea, you can argue that Miles got more wins out of his stupid offense but it’s the same concept with Butch.

Except Butch is just a bigger idiot.

It was very clear. Miles stepped into top roster and program at LSU. That’s not the case at UT and we are behind those 3 teams.

I would say the talent on our roster coming back next year is about even with both Florida and South Carolina (if we can somehow stay healthy, at least). It's not like either one of those teams blew us off the field this season. We should have won both of them. With a better coach, I think we would have.

So, Leach > Miles. Will Phil do his job by making the call and setting up an interview with Leach, before running out to hire Miles?

No, he won't. He'll make a safe, conventional pick. I hope if that safe pick is Miles that he realizes that Miles doesn't really add value by himself. It's Miles' coordinators which make him. Those have to be elite if you pick Miles.

I think Phil might pick Miles because it kind of reminds him of himself, the CEO type coach. I don't understand the value of a CEO coach really. Why hire a figurehead when you can hire an engine. Texas A&M just hire Fisher (Saban said Fisher was his best ever play caller). SC hired a defensive guru in Muschamp, Georgia just won by hiring a defensive guru in Smart. Nebraska hired an offensive guru in Frost, etc. The days of coaches like Miles who aren't great techncial coaches seem to be dwindling. I guess we'll ride that era out just like we did the single wing.

That is ignorant. Les Miles and LSU won the SEC in 2011 (including a win over Alabama coached by Saban). 2011 was Les Miles 7th season at LSU. Saban's recruits had been gone for at least two years at that point.

Stop with your facts, you’re really throwing a wet blanket on Allvol123’s bromance with Kiffin

I agree, but he doesn't like recruiting and his end of game strategy leaves something to be desired when it's close. Still better than what we've had since him for sure.

Ok, I am going to have to agree with you on that, goes into prevent much too early, and bad on 3rd and long situations. But he has done well when he has had the talent, if he would just correct those two things. I was not aware of the recruiting aspect. We got to have someone that is a good recruiter.

(Speculation) but I believe the deal between Les and UT is getting finalized and we will know something either tomorrow nightish or Monday around noon... Again pure speculation... I also believe the announcement will be contingent on how longs it takes Les to pull together a staff... Or atleast a good portion of it.

Why? If Phil hires him, he does not need a staff that second.

I would agree he would have to have a good staff, but that is true of any HC, and yes qb issue must be addressed, and I feel a good qb coach would be essential for success.

Those were always the knocks on him. Now you can add over the hill to that. Les would basically be a place holder for Tee until he's ready. We don't relly need that at DC. He would be fine short term. But how many years does he really have left at this point?

With the new recruiting. Signing periods he would need to pull together a staff fairly quickly to get on the road... It's the same reason Frost has about 90%of his staff already before they finish the deal...

Miles couldn't get it done in Louisiana, what makes anyone think he is capable here?

Pass

His winning percentage while there was better than Spurrier’s, Richt’s and Urban Meyer’s, won a title and played in another. That’s getting it done in my book
