Fulmer post game quotes

We have gone from that the underrated team that will sneak up on everyone. To being the Team that lost to a Pac 10 team that started its JV squad.

If we lose to florida, georgia and alabama this year...he's gone. I don't see how you could justify keeping him around. I just don't see it.
because we would owe him a butt load of money. Unless we lose lose 8 games this season, i don't see him getting fired because of the financial hole it would put us in.

It's just giving the media something after the game. Nothing more should be looked into it than that

Wrong. You can react differently. I'm not yet (give me 10 minutes or so) calling for Fulmer's head...but really? UCLA...not CAL...but UCLA, are you serious? (I am taking into account the fact that UCLA was a seriously weakened team)

I don't care whether he's fine with a loss like this or not. We just lost on the road to a bad Pac-10 team that was 6-7 last year and playing with at best their 3rd string QB. They lost to Notre Dame last year, for chrissakes. Any team that has any designs on making noise in the SEC this year has to go in there and KILL this team.

It was pathetic. Our offense was pathetic. We've never been good at making halftime adjustments under Fulmer, but I'd hoped that things would be different under Clawson. Apparently not.

But you can't say that to the media, you just can't. You're repping the university in the same way that player's off-campus activities represent the school positively or negatively as well

What do you people expect him to actually say?

Do you want him to bawl in front of the camera and beg for UT's forgiveness?
Do you want that he gets angry and does a johnny cash for a nice poster?
Or how bout just hang is head and say, we'll we're just bad?

Post-game quotes are nothing but relating to the media. He's not going to say how angry, ashamed, or frustrated he is. He's just going to try to set a good image for the university and get out of there as soon as he can. Believe me, the players hear a lot worse than "this team has character and toughness".....they'll hear a lot worse than I can probably type on this board and it's not good print to represent the university either. He wants to win, he wants the team to get better....but you can't say anything bad/realistic/not-positive in front of the media because then it becomes a black eye for the university or an image of UT hiring a coach who has no faith in players at all

How about not having any faith in our COACH at all.

You can be angry at the loss all you want, that's fine. But the coach is just pleasing the media after the game. If any coach actually let out their frustrations after a loss like this...well look what happened to Green's job w/ the cardinals.

All i'm saying is it's pr and you're representing the school. He's probably upset yes, but he can't say anything that would make the school look bad.

1. Clawson is probably not ready for this level of college football, but we'll see.
2. Crompton is not our QB
3. Chavis is in love with prevent defense and is scared to blitz even though we have the talent.
4. Some analysts were calling us a sleeper. I agree and we're still asleep.
5. Johnny Majors has a big grin across his face.

"he's played this game a long time (UCLA QB). . .he's no slouch"

This made me laugh. A third-string qb on a 2nd-tier Pac-10 team is not a slouch? Really?

Pathetic.

we paid for 3 basketball coaches.......... why not 2 football coaches? the AD is the one that keeps paying Fulmer for his lack luster performance.

I really expect to see Fulmer get a 1 year extension and a million dollar bonus for losing to a West Coast team at their place by only 3 points..........

and given all those facts, he still made this statement in a game where this "he's no slouch" qb threw 4 interceptions. unbelievable

Of course you can't say that to the media. I understand that he has to go out there an mouth platitudes to the microphones. Which is why, of all the Vol fans in the world, the last one whose opinion I'm interested in right now is Coach Fulmer's.

Ok, sorry misunderstood you.

It's just so many people here think these press conferences are like the coaches' actual feeling and opinions when they're really not.....we read too much into this post game quote crap than we really actually should

The fact is Fulmer does not HAVE to win championships! All he has to do is win 7,8 or 9 games a year and win a few big games to make his 2 million a year till he die! We are slowly slipping into the middle of the Eastern division.

Phil should just bring a tape recorder and play his post-game quotes from other game chokes.

Honestly, I think things are just complacent. There was grumblings in '05 so Randy was fired, then a couple of 4 loss seasons and he's turned it around.

We're back to the Majors days.

It is absolutely, utterly flabbergasting to me that we allow a quarterback who threw FOUR INTERCEPTIONS IN THE FIRST HALF to sit back in the pocket and pick our defense apart in the second half while only rarely bringing any sort of pressure. That absolutely falls on the head of Chavis, and I fail to see how anyone could argue otherwise. We played like a poorly coached, ill prepared team - just like Michigan vs. Appy State last year, which cost Lloyd Carr his job; before anyone jumps on me, I would gladly take last year's Appy State team straight up over this year's UCLA team.

Sorry, but this was no where near a michigan-appy state loss....we lose to UTC or someone and then you can come back and start saying things like that
