Fulmer Is Drinking His Own Kool-Aid!

Fulmer said the Alabama game would be a great film to study. How many of those study films do we need a season?

Apparently the lights are down low and there are quite a few bobing heads.

I can just imagine film study. . . like an 8th grade film strip in science class.

At least three, so the guys who are young in spots can work like heck because we aren't where we need to be yet; but darnit this is a fun group of kids to coach.

Did you hear Steve talking about the gamecocks loss? My god what I would give to hear a Tennessee coach say "Well I can't trade these players, so I guess I am going to have to teach them how to win ball games"

I have faith in the vols. I did have alot more faith in the vols before the bama game. UT bama is usually a good game . If had been a hard fought close game that had UT coming up just short I dont think I would have been as upset. I will still cheer for the vols to win every game but its certianly more difficult to have any sort of faith the the D playing like it is.

this is a little of topic but it seems relevant to the direciton this thread has taken so here goes...

As I see it there are two types fo "Fulmerites". First, you have the people who are just die hard fans that care more about tradition and long term stability than they do about the number of wins and losses in any particular season. This category one group I see as welll intentioned, even though I disagree with them. Second, there are people who either are in Fulmer's "inner circle" (being treated to occasional inside informaiton from the staff, getting a sideline pass, relishing whatever prestige they think they get from being on a first name basis with the hfc, etc.), or who at least fancy themselves to be in insiders. The category two group I see as being motivated by either selfishness (they don't want to forfeit some "insider" status due to a coaching change) or some combination of selfishness and delusionalism (this would be the folks who really aren't insiders but fancy themselves to be so because of some meaningless association with Fulmer).

With the exception of one poster, long since banned, I have generally given the pro-Fulmer folks the benefit of the doubt and assumed that they fall into catergory one, however, it is often difficult to tell one category from the other since they all seem to speak with one voice. Once Phil is gone and the wheat can be separated from the chaff it will be interesting to see who is a well intentioned fan and who has been motivated solely by their own selfish insterests. I hope those of you seem hellbent on going down with the ship will be just a passionate in your support of the new head football coach on the Hill, whenever he arrives.

You have no idea how I feel about CPF. All I was pointing out was the glaring error in your thread title.

Well, all I said was 'Fulmer Drinks His Own Kool-Aid.'

He was quoted (by a player) as saying that the season is not over yet. It is true that the season is not over from a literal stand point, but from a pratical stand point, yes it is over for the Vols.

Fulmer is still trying to sell his program to his players, therefore he is drinking his own Kool-Aid....imho..

What do you expect the head coach to say? "Ah, screw it, what's the point"?

Short Answer. Faith. Something every true fan SHOULD have in their team. I go into every game thinking Tennessee can win the game. I also go into every game with realistic opinions as to their chances. IF Tennessee plays like they did Saturday, they probably won't win out. But guess what, I will still be at every game, thinking they will win when the ball is kicked off.

Longer Answer- Tennessee has lost to three ranked teams on the road. Tennessee is undefeated at Neyland Stadium this season. They play South Carolina, Arkansas, Lafeyette, and Vanderbilt at home. By the time that they play Kentucky, the Cats will be a shell of their current selves. They play Miss St. Vandy and Georgia all before we go there. If Tennessee plays like they CAN play, they can win in Lexington.

After the Florida loss, did you think Florida would lose two games? Did you think that if they played the way they did against Tennessee that they would lose ANY games? They've lost two. One of which at home. Their games against Georgia and South Carolina are at a neutral site and at Columbia. If you think it's impossible for them to drop one of those games, you are wrong.

Is there a lot of work still to be done? Yes. Is it possbile though for Tennessee to end up in Atlanta? Yes.

I'm with you. Most lost faith after the Florida game and predicted that Georgia would destroy the Vols in Neyland Stadium. The next 4 games are in Neyland Stadium against good to mediocre teams. I fully expect the Vols to play much better than they did last Saturday. Probably not as good as they did against Georgia, but they don't have to be that good to beat the next 4 opponents.

South Carolina has already started their annual 2nd half slide... La-Lafayetter is a cupcake.... Arkansas finally won a conference game over hapless Mississippi... and Vandy is still Vandy.

Meaning that we should expect the Vols to win these games and if they do not then there is only one clear explanation. bad coaching.

Does UT fall into the 'good to mediocre' class?

When I said that Fulmer was still trying to sell his program to his players, I meant his program of ineptness, softness, and one with lack of direction.

Sorry if I caused any confusion.

And for those of you who want to talk about the Vols' quality wins, go ahead and talk about the GA game, but the jury's still out as to whether GA was a strong opponent.
