...paying more money for tickets. Think about it, if Hamilton gives him raises and extensions they are going to have to find a revenue source to cover the higher cost. They are already paying nearly a million dollars just for the OC and DC. And with Tennessee not going to big time BCS bowls that bring in lots of revenue, this cost is going to be passed to the fans. Think about how much face value for tickets was just 5 years ago, $30 bucks? Now its $50. Would they have had to raise tickets prices that much if Tennessee regularly went to BCS bowls? The market might have allowed them to do so because of demand, but the revenue sources would be solidified.

So Fulmer gets a raise and extension for not winning any championships, but the fans will have to pay more in the future for tickets even though they do not see their team win championships or compete in BCS bowls. How can I apply for that job?

I agree that Fulmer should not receive a raise and extension this year. As far as the DC and OC are concerned, I believe their salaries total around $650,000. I may be wrong though.

UT ticket costs are not out of line with most other major univ.

I don't totally agree with that...

I'd say a good portion of why the tickets are going up is because all of the renovations to Neyland plus just the overall popularity college football has risen too.
UTK has plenty to pay fulmer and his staff...

Fulmer has done a good job coaching our teams over the last couple of years... Yes there are some calls and situations that I would have done differently but I'm not the coach... Gotta accept that...

Please stop posting Fulmer bashing threads...

they are getting annoying...

Just my opinion...

You should be able to go to the HR department and give them your resume and fill out a form. I am sure they would get a laugh out of it. I wouldn't quit your current job until you have a contract in hand though. Good luck!!

you're going to struggle getting these to happen because the good coaching you reference prior has resulted in some relatively pitiful results. However, if his coaching resulted in UT winning some meaningful football games, the number of Fulmer bashing threads is likely to taper off significantly. Number of bashing threads is generally proportional to number of losses.

For comparison, how much are tickets to Alabama games? They should be, or will be, the highest in the conference.

The SEC typically sets records every year with its shared revenue pool. I'm sure that number will continue to appreciate.

Besides, 2007/2008 won't be an issue. The SEC had two BCS bowl invites and plenty of $$$$$ to share there.

Yes they would have. If Fulmer would have made it to just 1 BCS bowl under Hamilton's watch, Fulmer would probably be over $3 million already (at the rate Hamilton hands out raises/extensions). So essentially, tix prices were going to balloon no matter what.

Why?

Oh...I forgot we took the back door elevator to the SECCG...now that's something to really get boned up about.

And yeah, never ever, ever forget how p.c. (connected) CPF is at UT.

We will NEVER get beyond 3rd >Third Place< in the SECE with this Coaching Staff.

With the occasional exception of a Co-Champion (East) as was presented this year.

Geez...I'm not sure that fact has registered with most posters here!!!!!!!!!

I thought I'd never see the day when Tennessee Football coaches were rewarded for fielding a mediocre team. If you don't like the word mediocre then you'll have to settle with Lucky.

No matter what any of us say, the money train will still be rolling... as long as that is going on, expect to see Fulmer here until he's Paterno/Bowden's age...

once again this proves that college football is all about the money...going to a new years day bowl game brings in pretty good revenue for UT...which is probably the only reason he gets a raise. A 4 loss season is almost unacceptable.

EXCUSE MEEE....A 4 LOSS SEASON IS UNACCEPTABLE AT UT!!!!!!!!

Winning the tiebreaker (by stomping UGA's ass at Neyland) doesn't feel like a shared title.

Regardless, it was shared. However, your idiotic ramblings about UT never finishing higher than 3rd in the East is wrong.
