Fulmer better get control of this thing

The thing that kills me is UT is paying Ansley 1 million a year to be DC and allegedly he isn't even calling the defense. I've also heard that Pruitt is allowing Friend to meddle on the offensive side of the ball
Explain meddle in this situation, after all Friend is the OL coach and should have some say on the offensive side of the ball...

Crompton not playing in 2006/07 was 100% Cutcliffe. Cutcliffe didn’t like JC and would have played BJ Coleman over JC if he’d stayed.

I blame some of JCs terrible 2008 season on Cutcliffe. Some on JC and some on Clawson, who has beat more ranked teams than JP has this year.
2006 2007 we had Ainge. But JC did start a few games after Ainge got hurt at SC on Cutcliffes dumbest call of all time late in that game called a QB keeper and got his QB injured in a game that was all but over. JC did however have LSU beat at home.

Almost as crazy as Pruitt 'meddling' with the defense...

The buck stops with Fulmer. Why would an AD not get involved if a certain staff is sloppy or a program is being mismanaged or not performing up to expectations.

It’s not his job. He hired a HC and he needs to let him do his job.

First, Pruitt has proven that he’s not capable of identifying top assistants. Going forward, Fulmer should interview all assistants before any offer is made. Pruitt blew a lot of money hiring a $175k a year assistant for $650kx 2. Who in the hell does that? CJP got lucky that Helton found another job. Otherwise, UT would be paying for him.

Second, Fulmer needs to lay down the law to the entire staff. Failure to recruit is not an option and grounds for dismissal WITH CAUSE. Get your lazy ass busy, Wienke, Friend, etc.

Third, Fulmer needs to explain to Pruitt (he’s obviously too dumb to know) the impact having a young QB can have on recruiting. No reasonable high school kid is excited about playing with JG. They might be if a soph or freshman is playing. Hell, everyone else in the SEC can get freshmen ready, why can’t Tennessee?

Whether Fulmer succeeds or not is gonna be tied to Pruitt. I doubt Fulmer will hire the next coach if Pruitt gets fired.
Hilarious youre calling someone lazy in recruiting in relation to fulmer

AD has oversight over all sports programs. I’m not talking about micro-managing which would not be good. He can step in and provide direction as he sees fit. It’s like the CEO of a manufacturing company.

Fulmer had trouble hiring quality assistants what makes you think he can hire them for Pruitt?
Fulmer was afraid that if he hired a great assistant, the person would want his job. He did it to Majors and he was afraid that the same thing would happen to him.

Apparently, Fulmer is personally calling local media to try and defend Pruitt. Josh Ward is supposed to be on 104.5 the Zone and talk about a call he received from Fulmer concerning comparing Butch's and Pruitt's records at this point in both their tenures at UTK.

Fulmer needs to stay the hell away and let the coach he hired do his job, and if he can’t do it then Fulmer needs to be the first one out the door

And had even more trouble keeping underperforming assistants around. Lots of pro-Fulmer fans like to ignorantly blame the administration for this

Clawson has been successful EVERYWHERE he's been except his one year as OC to Fulmer

We had one of the top defenses in the country the year Fulmer got fired. Had he been given more time he would have found a way to fix the offense after losing Cutcliffe. He actually tried to go in a new direction philosophically to utilize a dual-threat QB. He simply was not given enough time. Dave Clawson is still a Power 5 head coach even though Tennessee suffered its worst statistical offensive season in over 30 years. so you can't honestly say that was a terrible hire if he thought he would be given time to completely revamp the offense. He could have hired a pro-style OC and continued to lose to Florida and kept his job.
You do realize with top 5 talent, we went 5-6 in 2005. The fact that Fulmer couldn't get the offers he wanted after 2008 should tell you everything you need to know about him

I am aware of your first point which should be a damn good reason not to fire him. I don't even know what you are trying to say in your second point. I stand by what I said because it is 100% accurate.

It's your opinion and it's extremely narrow and uninformed. My second point was the none of the big time programs that had openings gave him a whiff even after Fulmer shouted to the world he was ready to coach again.
