I don't remember seeing it until after Wilson left. It was used fairly often at the end of Chavis' TN tenure... like 2007-ish. I like your thinking. A gimmick defense wasn't necessary when Al was disrupting and creating havoc.
----Yea he was/is terrible. That's why he is one of the most respected in the country. The DC of 3 big time programs. The same people who complain about punting on 4th down are the same who complain about prevent defense. Guess what it works the vast majority of the time. If it didn't do you think coaches would use it?
Yeah getting rid of them really helped us out huh? It only resulted in one of, if not the worst stretch of years in Tennessee football history. A stretch that Butch Jones is just now recovering from.
There will always be some fans that cut on Fulmer and Chavis. And there will always be fans like me that call those fans moronic idiots.
