Fulmer and Chief

I use to call it the "AL Wilson is coming to sack your azz" defense. :)

I don't remember seeing it until after Wilson left. It was used fairly often at the end of Chavis' TN tenure... like 2007-ish. I like your thinking. A gimmick defense wasn't necessary when Al was disrupting and creating havoc.

Yeah. I think AL was the only one jumping around in those days. He was fun too watch.

Yea he was/is terrible. That's why he is one of the most respected in the country. The DC of 3 big time programs. The same people who complain about punting on 4th down are the same who complain about prevent defense. Guess what it works the vast majority of the time. If it didn't do you think coaches would use it?
----
It's not a matter of "does it work"? it's more should it be implemented. The prevent keeps everything in front of you and "prevents" the big, quick play. It does what it's supposed to do..so in that way it "works"...The timing of when it is implemented is always a good debate.

Yeah getting rid of them really helped us out huh? It only resulted in one of, if not the worst stretch of years in Tennessee football history. A stretch that Butch Jones is just now recovering from.

There will always be some fans that cut on Fulmer and Chavis. And there will always be fans like me that call those fans moronic idiots.

The decline began with Fulmer. The hires prolonged it.

...the mustang is what its called lol.

No, the Mustang was 6 DBs. I think the chaotic defensive look was called "The Predator". Almost the entire defense was standing up and jumping around attempting to confuse the offense. It didn't generate positive results for TN.

I think Chief calls the dime package the Mustang. What was that crazy alignment called with everybody jumping around, including the DL?

The prowler package. I loved that I think it was florida when big john Henderson walking up an down the Los an they had no idea where the pressure would come from. Id love to see ut run that every once in a while

Exactly. It messed up Florida in the early 2000's.

No but I could see Fulmer and jones talking about chavis's tendencies

This. People can adjust schemes to talent all day but somebody that's been in it as long as Chavis has tendencies that don't just go away.

Fulmer & Chavis both are VFL's and a true Tennessee fan is a idiot to down either one of these men who did so much for our program.
