As mediocre as we have been, we still recruit well.

That is kinda strange isn't it. I mean some on here say that UT is not a national program and yet we still bring in top kids from ALL over the nation. Can some of the negative Vol fans explain that? Could it be (just a question) that you see it wrong due to a dislike of a certain coach. I mean these kids are recruited by all the other big boys like USC, OU, Mich, OSU, Miami, UF, LSU etc. Yet they choose UT. Kinda makes you wonder. :whistling:

We put kids in the pros, easy at that. Unfortunately that has also translated into 4,6,3,3, and 5 losses in the past five years.

Why wouldn't a guy with NFL aspirations come to UT? We have a coach that will allow you to do anything short of committing a Class A felony before imposing any meaningful discipline, a fan base that doesn't demand you achieve anything, and great facilities to work out at after you quit going to class in order to finally get in football shape for the NFL combine. It's a dream situation.

That may be the dunbest post I have read on this board (unless your kidding). Usually your posts are good and have thought. I don't always agree but can atleast see your point. This one... not so much.

If you're going to call something the "dumbest" you've ever seen, at least have the intelligence to spell the word correctly.

Negavols seem to be taking over the sight. Too bad really. It's a real reach to put stock in Wilbon. The guy has minor comedic value at best. I put my dog's sports knowledge against him anyday.

But since he didn't mention the Vols, it's doom and gloom of course.

You haven't made me laugh in a while hate, but you just did with that!

But you can't have it both ways. Either he keeps people on to long or he throws them.. never mind. You don't like the guy and I don't think he can or ever will be able to change your mind and that is fine with me.

That's a big part of my problem. With all of the top 5 recruting classes he's brought in this decade, what has he done with them? If we are recruting on a level with USC, Florida, LSU, and OSU, we should have a program that can compete at that level.

Boomer Esiason was interviewed about Saban and talked about what a slick, polished recruiter he is...he
said "can you imagine a recruit talking with Fulmer and then in walks Slick Nick looking all polished and confident...no contest. Guess Boomer doesn't realize Fulmer has been recruiting against more 'polished' coaches than Saban...like Meyer, Richt, Tuberville, Miles, Nutt and I think he has done ok. Slick Nick will look like a used car salesman who can talk out of both sides of his mouth.

I've trashed Fulmers coaching skills but the man can recruit. I'm guessing 107,000 doesn't hurt, or all the good looking women, or all the guys in the NFL.

Fulmer's recruiting abilities are the only reason he still has his job.

So would the negavols prefer we play western ky, the citadel, arkansas st, and southwest akron st as our non-conf shedule? I love playing a tough non-conf schedule but I think it comes with a price. I'll give the boys at troy props for their schedule, but most of the other "top" programs schedule plenty of scrimmages.

Of course the negavols would blame phil for playing patsies then...

Norman Esiason needs to stick to what he knows. Saban is a good coach, but for some reason he is being annointed with God-like status as if the rest of the SEC never existed.

nick will have a serious problem the next few years recruiting in the sec. there is too much bad press on him. all other sec coaches will be quick to remind a recruit and his family that nick has walked out on his players three times now - and the fourth time is inevitable.

Boomer needs to get it straight. While Fulmer has some short comings, recruiting is certainly not one of them. I would actually put Fulmer head to head with anyone in that regard.

And I agree Saban is carrying some baggage with him these days related to the "I am not leaving, I am not leaving..." and flying out under the cover of darkness the following day... Its going to be awesome when he does that to the tide.

Go Read "The Blind Side" by Michael Lewis, stat.

Fulmer will do fine.

Saban's going to have every coach telling recruits about his lack of commitment to his program, and the fact he's a coaching vagabond.

Again, how would changing the nonconference schedule result in SEC titles? The people who should want a soft nonconference schedule are the Fulmerites mindlessly yammering on about winning percentages. That way, Haystacks would only have to worry about the SEC causing the freefall in his percentages.

Ah yes, the last refuge of the mentally inept. Can't argue the message, attack the messenger. Go crawl back into your hole with your Haystacks Fulmer Swimsuit Calender. Oh that's right, you're probably busy watching the 2005 Cotton Bowl DVD.

Keep dreaming. Mindless optimism is all you Fulmerites have left. Your day of reckoning is on its way.
