no BCS bowl appearances since 1999, a combined 6-10 record against SEC East rivals Florida and Georgia in the last eight years, an 8-14 mark against ranked opponents in the last five seasons.
With the above being true and the recent success of Pearl, is football now less important?
Why do people feel the need to compare the 2? Can't you just enjoy them for what they each bring to the univ? Maybe that's too much to ask of some...

I agree. My interest in basketball is minimal. I have not watched the Vols' first two games and I doubt I'll stay up to watch tonight. I would gladly trade 50 NCAA tourney C-ships for 1 SEC football C-ship. I'm glad for my fellow UT fans that they happy and excited, but it means nothing to me. Personally, I'll be happy when this is over so attention will be redirected where it belongs.Nope, football spring training beats a basketball Final Four appearance EVERYTIME. Basketball blows!
Whew, thank goodness rexy managed to squeeze that in this week. I'm sure I speak for the majority here when I say I'd almost forgot his stance on UT football.
Football always has been and always will be #1, not just in Tennessee, but in most of the south. That doesn't mean that basketball can't thrive in that situation -- as someone else pointed out, Florida's basketball program seems to be doing pretty well playing second fiddle to its football team.
Yeah, that's exactly why you posted it... :lol:Wow, I just pose an unbiased question concerning the perceived heirarchy of Tennessee programs and you guys come unhinged. The reality is that the football program is less important since we have a winner at TBA if for no other reason that spring practice no longer dominates the March sports page. However, that being said, Tennessee is a football school and will always be one....knowing that keeps my hope for a new revelant coach alive.
