Okay, so it looks like we may hire Hugh Freeze as OC. Reading Volnation, it's obviously a somewhat controversial decision. Of course, I'm kinda like Rodney KIng ... "Can't we all just get along?"

Someone else posted this link in another thread. I thought it looked interesting, so I clicked and watched.

As a pastor, I've had to deal with folks who messed up, and sought to be restored into the fellowship of the church. While watching this short video (6 min) from a pastoral perspective, I'm looking and listening for a few things to convince me someone has truly repented and is genuinely interested in restoration. Maybe I'm a fool. Maybe I've been duped. Maybe I have orange colored glasses. But I believe I saw and heard the things that indicate to me true repentance.

Respectfully, I would encourage folks to watch this with an open mind, and decide for themselves.

I don't mean this thread as trying to promote CHF, nor to discredit anyone who may oppose the hire. Not looking for a fight from either side.
I just thought this was too important to be lost somewhere deep within the pages of a thread. (Freak, if you disagree ... hey, it's your site ... move as you deem appropriate ... I love you man).

I dont think its up to a single person to determine whether or not he has repented, asked forgiveness, or anything else of the sort.

Agree. But it is up to Pruitt and Fulmer to determine if the risk of future scandal is worth the marginal improvements on offense for a couple of years.

Agree......I think the concern from them is all about the risk of something like it happening again and while at this program. Nothing to do with morality IMO.

Freeze may or may not do something scandalous again at some point, but at least we’d get him at a time when he’s on his best behavior due to heightened scrutiny. By the time he let his guard down he’d probably be already gone anyway.

What he does going forward should and will be the focus. If he steps out of bounds it would be suicide for him, but everybody deserves a second chance. He comes off show clause today, if we don't hire him somebody else will. I am sure the contract will state what they expect out of their coach. I will welcome Freeze wholeheartedly into the Vol Family if he chooses to come here. GBO!!!!!

I am sure there would be a "Morals" part of his contract, with ANY Team, that would specify instant firing and No Buyout for violations! JMO
There may be some more stringent demands on personal behavior but I have to believe suits gonna take care of suits, there'll be a buyout clause. Could be wrong, I was once before.

It’s a bit of a gamble to hire Freeze. But I believe he should be able to explain everything to Fulmer and CJP. I trust them if they decide to hire. I dread SEC/College game day signs next year.

I was pretty hard on Feeze yesterday on VN and made some heated and judgemental comments, which I regret. After thinking about it last night... and sorting out my thoughts... and then watching this video... I’ve realized what it was that was irking me about the hire.

Yes, it’s cringeworthy what he did... but as someone says above, that is between, him, God, and his wife and only God knows his heart.

I think what irked me the most is the way people acted on here - literally making jokes and saying “he was just making a man out of them,” (Still not sure if he hired escorts for himself or recruits - I thought it was both but now I realize maybe not.) Folks were talking about hookers and one said “what a great time it was,” and honestly, it just made me sick. Whether it’s common or not, whether the Vol Hostesses were at UT for that purpose or not, it is sickening to me and not the example I would want set for my son on how to treat or think of women. It made my skin crawl how everybody was acting. It got to be pretty crude (to me).

Back to Freeze... it is not up to me to judge him... and it’s true everyone makes mistakes, and certainly, everyone deserves a second chance. (Unless they harmed children - I’m out on that! LOL)

One thing I always thought was cool about Freeze (no pun intended) was that he was one of a small group (at least that I’m aware of) who was a successful collegiate football coach, but never played collegiatelly himself. I thought that was kind of neat.

If he is hired, I hope for the best... for UT Football and him.

Now I want you to take that same introspection and tell me why two adults consenting to pay for sex is morally reprehensible to you, and why you feel it's ok to dictate others morals. If you want to teach your son to act a certain way, then be that example and teach him. There is no reason to act all high and mighty just because others dont share your morals.

What he did or didn’t do is the past now
He’s an innovative offensive mind
He knows how to motivate his players to play to their best ability and give their all in practice and Saturday
He’s one of a few that can say he has beat Saban twice
I still don’t think it’ll happen but it needs to...
